Photos of my trip, to pick up the Elise.

Sorry for the quality..........The scenery was really beautiful.
It was the furthest west I had ever been from Louisiana.
It was a fairly amazing ride home. Me , an Elise, Arizona, New Mexico, West Texas, and 1400 miles of highway.
It's one of the things in my life I'll never forget.

I took a bus from Baton Rouge Louisiana to pick her up in Tucson Arizona.
I didn't know the bus system is what it is. 32 hours later and a broad spectrum of eerie encounters, the likes of which I've never experienced, and I was there. In the end I feel it was worth it and I feel my horizons have been broadened.

It seems people who ride busses have no other means of transportation, in most cases. It saddens me to see such poverty in a once great nation. It further saddens me to see this Government desperately trying to appease the world with our tax dollars, and bring other countries up, while this one falls apart.
I don't know what they are doing, or why they are doing it but they're not doing a very good job and they certainly don't seem to be working in the interest of America.
I remember when a coke was 25 cents and an honest days work for an honest days pay was enough to get you by. Today it's enough to get you in debt and pay taxes.
Oh well, sorry for rambling on, here are the pics.

What an engine!

this calls for a celebration, CONGRATS,
I bet that bus ride made the purchase that much sweeter!

Was it a grayhound bus, i used to ride that bus all the time when i was younger.

I will probably have to do something similar when i purchase my lotus when i get back, lotus dealerships are FAR AND BETWEEN

Yes it was Greyhound all the way.
I don't know about making the purchase sweeter, but, I do know it made me more humble. It made me appreciate the chances I've been given and the things I've worked for even more. Not everyone on those busses were trashy people. They were just people that haven't had their chance in life yet. And then there were many who had their chance and blew it and didn't care.
There were people from all walks, and every place in the U.S. that you can name, everyone from drug pushers, preachers, convicted felons, hookers, thugs, illegals, Dr's and Lawyers, sinners and saints.

I'm very fortunate for the things I have, the job I have and what's left of the life I live. I thank whoever's looking over me, for it. I don't take these things for granted anymore and I know they can be taken away.
All of these things courtesy of Greyhound and a trip to pick up a car.
I have much to be thankful for.

Congratulations and a trip that will probably give you some perspective on why some folks will feel less than excited for you driving what appears to be a very expensive car.

Enjoy the ride (Lotus that is).

Ahhh, the great American underbelly. Well, if we just have socialized medicine, welfare, food stamps, section 8 housing, nationalize businesses, etc. it should cure that mess right up.

Wow, thank you, it put me back in time, to the excitment, when I picked up my first Elan in 1970.
Your reflections on this country I agree with, every day I see "issues", Oh, don't get me started.

Can't decide which is more beautiful in this thread, Jason, the new car or your attitude of gratitude. When can we expect to read your book based upon a true story of a boy, a car and his bus ride to get 'er?

Your car looks great, and that's some great scenery too. Seems like a fun drive! I drove that way years ago, but it was in a Chrysler minivan so no nearly as enjoyable.

I used to take Greyhound back when I was in university, as plane tickets to Pittsburgh were too expensive (USAir had a virtual monopoly on that airport). You are certainly right when you say you meet people from all walks of life on the Greyhound.

It also motivated me to work harder in school, so when I graduated, I was able to afford to never take the Greyhound ever again

Another Louisiana Lotus owner!

AWESOME!!

Congrats on a gorgeous car!! AR is growing on me every day.

If you ever get the chance to come up to the Shreveport area, shoot me a PM, I'd love to see your car in person.

Rock on!
