Welcome back Randy. Don't worry you shouldn't have much more that 2,000 or 3,000 posts to read at Elisetalk that you missed since you left!

19 hours.

Damn!

Don't know how you did it.

I once did 23 hours from LA to Houston, but there were two of us taking turns.

congrats, randy. most i ever drove alone was 22 hours but that was in a 15 passenger van with a 45 minute nap along the way. 15 hours in a spyder leaves one buzzing and vibrating for an hour or more. i bet randy felt that way arriving in san diego

News to me. It's running on Randy's server. Not sure what's going on with it.

Bad timing with that server. I have no idea what is wrong, looking into it now.

Welcome home, Randy! Wow... that's a serious long-haul! And driving in the desert between El Paso to Palm Springs is pretty boring... especially at night! Glad you're home safe and sound.

Hey Randy. That must've been creepy. :shudder:

Thanks to many Coyotes and 100mph in the Elise and the mental picture of what might happen if I hit one at speed.... and thanks to many thunderstorms... I was kept entertained.

Might also have something to do with the Red Bull and about 10 Starbucks Double Espresso Doubleshots.

Randy

I feel great. Could use a few more hours of sleep.

The small of my back is irritated because the area with the lumbar support does not breathe at all and when it's hot, you get all sweaty there (I think cloth seats would have been better) and then the shirt sticks to your back and then 19 hours later..

well, probably too much information.

Anyway... I feel fine. No soreness or anything. I felt I could drive longer.. other than just getting tired, which would be the same in any car.

Did I read somewhere that you are going to be at hollywood park this weekend with the car? I'll be there to scope things out this weekend, then at the september 25th event I plan on competing in my first autocross.

Randy,

Amazing!! The most driving I've ever done was from Jersey to Road America in Elkhart Lake, WI 16.5 hours strait. I only stopped for the rest rooms and to grab some junk food. I was in my pick up truck towing my enclosed trailer with race car. After that trip I felt like crap and slept the rest of the day until the next morning. Then went to the race track , raced all weekend and then had to drive back home.

Needless to say I was dead after this trip. I am still amazed that you feel fine and have strength. You may want to take up endurance racing. You would do very well

Welcome Home,
Mitch

That is the plan... but it's very tentative now. There is a real possibility after this afternoon, that I might be cancelling it, and my participation at Nationals this year. We shall see.

My wife has had a very possible recurrence of breast cancer. She has surgery scheduled in a few hours from now. We will learn more then what the situation is. If it is not good, then that will change my plans.

This autocrossing is just fun and games of course.

Thanks, it is good to be back.

Our thoughts are with you guys. I have been through this stuff way too much and now spend my days working on treatments--a bit of a grudge that I have with cancer.

Even for car guys, there comes a point that other things become way more important. Let us know how we can help.
