Hmm.. decisions. Stay true to Route 66 along I-40? Or hop down 89 and then maybe even back to Phoenix AZ and down to I-8 to San Diego?

If you decide to take I-8 for the last leg, I know another "short cut"... Maricopa road from Maricopa (just south of Phoenix) to Gila Bend.

Hey randy.

I know you havent met me or anything.

But since you mentioned stopping in or around the louisville area i figured i would offer up some room and board if you liked.

Difference is i live in hamilton, OH which is about 2hrs past lousiville.

I work tuesday BUT hamilton is the home of the NOBLE> As im sure you already know of superformance(1gracing). The guys who build them. Im sure it would be a fun for you to visit their shop for the day. (20 minutes from my house.) Then for the afternoon/night you would be more than welcome to just come back to the house for a few beers and a spare bedroom to crash in.

1G Racing Media Center

Just throwing that out there.

This sounds like fun. I'm going to see if I can borrow a GT-R and drive over to the Dragon on June 16th.

Regarding your route after the Dragon, I think there are a few Elisetalkers in Nashville if you want to go through Nashville instead of Louisville. I'd even buy you dinner at the famous Loveless Diner.

I think that actually sounds cool. I keep playing with the itinerary and will seriously consider that.

But note, clowns scare me. Creep me out. Specially that one. "Can't sleep, clowns might eat me." "they all float"

Highlights of my earlier Elise roadtrip was staying with forum people I did not know. Really, I got to meet some great people which I recall is far more memorable than another Days Inn.

Tempting. Do they have loaner helmets? Anything I need to know or can I just show up that morning at the event? Any way to make sure I get an earlier run group so I can be on the road by early afternoon?

Loaner helmets are available. No preregistration, just show up and register on-site , closes at 9:30. They usually split things up to do 3 runs, work, 3 more runs and then another work shift. I have had to leave after the first rotation and they have been cool with it as long as you work the course. Depending on the crowd, figure finishing at 12-1 if you do 3 runs or 3-4 if you do 6 runs.

The Superspeedway course is close to I-40 and is on the East side of Nashville so that should help with your schedule.

I have a brand new helmet I'll loan you if you come to Nashville. I might also caravan with you to the Dragon.

hahaha.

I hate clowns too. "IT" scared the **** out of me when i was younger. So we have something in common. Seeing that clown threw the sewer cover made me look twice everytime i passed one on my bike. The avatar is kind of like reverse pschy.

I just built a house too big for just the wife and I. So if need be "we'll leave the light on for ya"

Let me know.

I promise im not a stalker.

Been looking over the itinerary. Some changes. I will leave Detroit on Sunday for Louisville KY. Stay in Louisville Sunday night. Drive to Nashville TN for the Sunday Autocross. Leave after noon and drive over to Deal's Gap and the lodge.

Leave Deals Gap sometime on Tuesday morning. Drive up to 1Gracing in Ohio. Stay in Ohio.

Wednesday, drive to Illinois for Route 66. Hopefully to St Louis MO.
Thursday St Louis to Oklahoma City.
Friday Oklahoma City to Albuquerque NM
Saturday Albuquerque NM to Laughlin NV
Sunday Laughlin NV to Santa Monica and then San Diego CA

you may want to drive 1.5 hours past louisville and stay near the corvette factory. they have a great tour. i really enjoyed it.

edit.....that would be on the south bound trip. you could also hit it on the way north to ohio. if you stop for lunch or dinner in chattanooga, Lookout Mountain is right there. my nephew, ,Nick owns the Lookout Mountain cafe right on the mountain. good food and nick isa car nut.

the mountain is really cool. been there a few times.

Unfortunately, I have to pick and choose what makes sense to stop at. The trip has already grown to something out of control and now I am stopping in Tennessee for an autocross, doing Tail of the Dragon in North Carolina, heading back up to Ohio to 1G Racing, then over to Chicago before I even start heading back along Route 66.

Trip starts on June 5th. Ends I hope by June 22nd.

If I could, I would take the slow back roads everywhere, but the schedule does not permit it. For example, I need to leave Detroit by 6:00pm and get as close to Tennessee as I can that night. I have to leave Deals Gap and get all the way to Ohio early enough to go the 1GRacing place. I might be able to make a lunch in Chicago from Ohio. I think.

Hey Chris. I will be coming through Indy it seems, just not sure exactly when. Do they serve lunch at St Elmos? I could go for a shrimp cocktail.
