When were you in Atlanta? Why didn't you stop by and say Hello?

It was a big roadtrip, I thought most people knew my schedule. If you read it, it is at ChaseCam Roadtrips I was surprised you didn't come up to Deals Gap.

I'm glad I read it... I was thinking about driving up to northern Arizona this week to say hi and maybe drive along with you for a bit.

Hey Randy, what happened to you this today? We were at Autobahn from 9AM to 3 PM. Did the Noble give you problems?

The rain finally stopped at 10AM and we had really good track conditions by 11AM until we left.

Sorry we didn't get a chance to hook up. We had both cars out there today and there was only about 4 other cars on the South track.

You would have had plenty of play time.

Maybe another time.

Yep. Problems. Decided the car was not track ready, specially a track 2000 miles from home.

See write up on issues at ChaseCam Roadtrips

The guy who tried to sell you his trailer that he used for his own Noble modified the battery location, relocating it to somewhere behind the passenger seat for easier access. He also noted what a pain in the butt it was to access it in its standard location.

Maybe PM him if you're interested in that type of modification.

Yep. I have a short list of mods to do as I get time. Access to the battery is not good where it is. Many people have added extra terminals that you can easily reach.

Hey, that's me in your avatar!

Great write up. Glad you and the car made it back OK even if you had to truncate your trip a bit. It was a very sweet car and I was very surprised at how nice the interior is.

Was nobody in the car b/c all your stuff was in the passenger seat? Saw those dont really have a trunk.

PS - Randy can you PM me your SCCA number? Im going the SCCA and I see an area for Member Referral Program. Think its safe to say you got me into this car racing stuff.

I took stuff out when we were running Tail of the Dragon, but otherwise the seat was indeed full of luggage.

Pretty much like the Elise in regards to interior room, but slightly larger, and a bit more room behind the seats. But no trunk at all. Where the Elise has a trunk, the Noble uses that for the intercooler and intakes.

Randy,

Mike is right about my relocating the battery. My mechanic installed a Genesis EP battery, which is relatively small compared to the original. It fits perfectly behind the passenger seat, in between the fire wall and the floor cross-beam closest to it. It's small enough that it still allows room for other things, including in my case a fire extinguisher (mounted vertically). The first two pix show it with the seat moved fully forward; the third photo is with the seat fully back.

As for the terminal extensions, they were mounted just behind the right-side air intake, just in front of the tire. They allow me to connect a trickle-charger without even opening the clam! See the last two pix...

And Mike, good memory about my car - I think we met a month ago at the Ferrari-sponsored "Run Out East", no? You were with the Lotus posse that arrived just before I left. Funny in that, just yesterday, I also bumped into Jeff Kozak who I met for the first time at that same event. It's a small world!

Nicely done Randy! Is that your ECU also relocated?

I am collecting data on mods and will consider this.

Yes, indeed that is the relocated ECU, a Magnetti Marelli which was installed there from the outset by the first owner. Apparently the original ECU location on the back side of the firewall is somewhat susceptible to heat buildup though I don't think everyone automatically relocates it. Worth asking about on the Noble Forum.

You can also see the large red master kill switch that was installed when I had the battery moved. Obviously a track-oriented feature, though it provides an extra theft deterrent on top of the regular alarm and the removable steering wheel!

How does the killswitch affect (if at all) the immobilizer and alarm system?

It's directly off of the battery, so it shuts down EVERYTHING!

I wasn't actually looking for it to be added - my mechanic is Bill Andrews from HRE Motors (the country's premier Shelby Cobra replicar installer) and Bill likes to add his personal rubber stamp to everything he works on, so when I arrived to pick up the car after the battery move, there it was! It's hard to argue with Bill though, once you see the quality of his work, so there it is alongside the battery. Certainly, it's not an essential add-on though I doubt it added much to my bill that time!

But then how would you lock and unlock the doors if the killswitch was flipped off?
