Sportin The Elise in Montana

Went to Montana this past weekend to help at a cycling race at my alma matter - Montana State University in Bozeman, MT. Left on Thursday and came back Sunday afternoon. Awesome weather. Great roads. Got up to 140 on one straight away. Man! Sure takes a while to hit top speeds in the Elise. Maybe the thinner air at 5000 ft had something to do with that. Here are some shots. I love the one with the snowy mtn in the background.

190hp is what does it to the top end. Lightweight can help with acceleration, but there is no replacement for horsepower on the top end.

No, you're not the only one. The car will hit 120 fairly quickly, and after 120... it creeps to top speed. So slow in fact that I've personally never gotten to top speed... I always have to slow down before I reach it.

Yes, you're right. 4th gear goes to 115 no prob and fifth to about 125 before it starts to slow down. Fortunately I had some nice straight flat Montana roads to test this on. Was a little disappointed but satisfied. Pretty cool how stable the car is even at 140. Good thing that deer I saw on the side of the road ran the other direction.
