floor mat /passenger side footrest
Has anyone else removed the passenger side foot rest? For tall passengers, it improves comfort dramatically, and gets their thigh off my gearshift. I expect someone to run with that last comment. Anyway, Has anyone had custom mats made for the floor with that removed? And does mat have one or two 't's in it?

I like the looks of the foot rest, and I know what you mean by thighs...

footrest
I love the looks of it.. But combine the fact that the passenger seat sits slightly ahead of the driver's seat when fully back (why is that0 with the fact that the footrest forces passengers' feet closer to them than the pedal box does, and you have a cramped tall passenger, whose legs are so bent they fall to the sides and into the gearshift.. Removal of it makes the passenger, and myself more comfortable. Below 6'0" and it probably doesn't matter..

i seldom have a passenger but i did remove the center cable cover, the 'spine' down the middle of the leg compartment. the cable is exposed but runs in it's channel safely.
it opens the compartment significantly.

I've seen a "long" mat before on the Group Lotus website.
Edit: Here it is:

For my taller passenger or when I ride as a passenger, I just move the foot rest close to the passenger seat (basically under the passenger's legs). When they are out, I just put it back in place. Normally, I use the area created by the footrest to hold a CD or two, sunglass case, etc.

Don't they fly back during acceleration, or are you all driving like Loanshark?

Removed mine pretty early on. Not worried about the mat(t(te)) though. Now that I think about it, I should remove the mats also. One of those things on my to-do list.
