Sleepless - Did you get the Lotus plumbing specs as well? I'd be very interested in seeing these.

I've notice some Lotus dealers use 10W40 oil for the oil changes they perform.
In a conversation with one dealer I found that the reason they used 10W40 was that it's what they used in other cars, so they always had it in stock...

Have you all seen their 'project car' web page? It's an Elise - and they removed 180 lbs from it. Sleepless, is that your car?? :-)

it is my car. we have dropped the weight by 106lbs; not sure where the 180 number came from.

Maybe they dropped 180 lbs and then added 74 (Fire suppression, gauges, etc.).

It was a typo; now fixed.

NMRJock - Yeah, I've got to stop using those 25lbs VDO gauges But you have a good point, we added at least 10lbs back for the fire system, harness bar and harnesses.

Very nice. Is that an adapter to the oil filter?

It is a sandwich plate (non edible topping) to allow access to the oil system. I have one on the S2000, but mine allows elimination of the engine mounted oil filter and allows plumbing to an external filter, in my case a Canton-Mecca.

I am curious as to the placement of the antibackup valve, the brass fitting in the picture. With the engine mounted filter having an internal antidrain valve, such a fitting usually is not required. I'd have to see how the Elise's Accusump in plumbed to figure out that one.

It looks like the thermostat sandwich plate adapter is still installed? Won't that cause an issue with Accusump charging? I thought you needed use an external thermostat and a sandwich plate adapter with no thermostat built in.

That should be the standard adapter plate on the Elise (where the oil cooler lines attach). I wouldn't think that the thermostat in the adapter would be a problem - it should simply direct the warm oil through the cooler lines, and cold oil should bypass. I would assume that the lines remain pressurized, and if you plumbed the Accusump into the return line, there wouldn't be any problem...

It looks like it is plumbed into the return line. The 'T' fitting is just after the check valve.

What kind of fittings did you use to splice into the rubber line? Also, is there a check valve in the line on the oil cooler side? Did Canton supply it? Finally, what kind of fittings are used on the oil cooler lines into the sandwich plate - they're not AN although what Canton shipped me are AN.

Guys, I can't answer all your technical questions since I didn't do the installation. The folks at www.speedwaremotorsports.com have the complete kit. Please contact them for more info. I have a few more pics which I'll post; maybe they'll answer your questions.

Thanks very much! Now, what 's the deal on warranty (maybe a little late for me since I've already bought the kit, but...)?
