A 2011 Delorean?

Per Pistonheads

DELOREAN SET TO RISE AGAIN?
US company considers a new future for the Pontiac Solstice

PistonHeads Headlines

Unfortunately they chose the Solstice over the Saturn Sky.

To me, if it's not stainless and doesn't have gullwings, IT'S NOT A DELOREAN!!!!

I had a Delorean and loved it but this does seem a bit odd. DMC is a VERY tiny boutique company. I don't see how they could financially do this.

No more Sky. Saturn gone.
No more Solstice. Pontiac gone.

The rendering shown in that article is rediculous. All they did was slap the Delorean side stripe on it, give it the dual exhaust like the original and louvered the back end. ...BIG DEAL! Agreed that unless they do it with the Gullwing doors whats the point of calling it a Delorean or what is the attraction?

The headquarters is about 5 minutes from my house. Every time you drive by there are Deloreans out in the parking lot that they are restoring or new ones that they are building. We also see them driving around the area quite often.

My son and I went over and looked at the operation one time and they had a history section. One of the pictures was of a prototype in Hethel, England. I never realised that Lotus had done work on the development of the car before. It was a really neat discovery for me, although I am sure most here already knew this.

Watch these videos "The Secret Life of Colin Chapman" It gives a pretty good account of Chapman's dealings with Delorean. On one of the videos a reporter says, "that Delorean looks alot like a Lotus Esprit don't you think?" Exec says, "Absolutely not. I don't see the resemblance."

Rob has a few of them at his shop, and I looked at the undertray of one and saw the same 3 NACA ducts as my Exige had. And yes, it had more than a little family resemblance to the S4 Esprit right next to it.
