BMW S1000RR
I just put my name on the list and spec'd a new bike for delivery. Is anyone else interested in this particular bike? BMW's first true sportbike. 193bhp - that's about what my E30 M3 had !!

MSRP hasn't been announced yet, but BMW says it'll be within 10% of the other Japanese 1 liter bikes. My guess is just under $15,000.

Symmetry works really well on cars because even a Lotus has a lot more surface area than a bike... but asymmetry is where it's at on bikes. (eg. Single Sided Swingarm anyone? Not on this bike, but it is a cool point of asymmetry that works) I really like the headlight treatment and the wicked rear end. Hell, even the different gills on either side are nifty. This is a gorgeous piece of art. Not MV Agusta gorgeous but definitely different, hard-edged, and sexy. I miss riding too much ![]()

I ordered the tri-color (white, red, blue) paint scheme. I can only hope the production version looks something like this.

They're building the bike to win super bike races and I don't think shaft drive is going to allow them to be competitve with the other superbikes. A 403lb dry weight isn't too bad and with 193hp, it should be competitive with the other superbikes. Traditionally, BMWs had powerful engines but were just too heavy to be considered a superbike in the Ducati, R1, GSXR1000, etc. class).
Traction control and ABS are pretty good features too. The headlights just don't do it for me. 2010 BMW S1000RR gets ABS, traction control - Hell For Leather Faster and Faster: First pics and specs: BMW S1000RR streetbike

It's a good time. In addition to the Big 4 from Japan, other new bikes worth nothing are:
