Needs to adjust the rake on the GT2, geez
After seeing that from the Porsche angle, im convinced a better driver in the porsche could have beaten the caterham

![]() I am not sure I would say the Cat driver is driving over his head, the only moments he really had was when the car got light over crests, had he been in a heavier car, with a longer wheelbase, and better aerodynamics, that wouldn't have happened. The Seven was not designed to go those speeds, it has the aero of a brick and it is a very twitchy car (which is why it is so fun to drive), that car was a handful to drive that fast, if anything he's got some great skills IMO. Catching a lot...
The Caterham was catching a lot of air. The driver was catching a lot of Caterham.
I agree that it would be much faster without the stock windshield. My Seven is scary at its top speed, about 80-85, because it is so twitchy. Thanks to LOG and the laps at Talladega I definitely had the car maxed out. |

From the Cat's POV. that whole sequence from 3:40 to about 4:20 was some exceptionally quick-handed driving! When I watched the Porsche vid, I got the feeling his tires started to give out @5:00 or so.
Two great drivers (who did seem to know one another)-glad I got to ride along via the web! Tom |

I owned a 400hp/ton Caterham that I drove on the track and some of the comments here make me wonder how many of you know what a Caterham is...
The Caterham will "drift" very easily. At just about any speed, if you jab the throttle the rear end will step out. But in no way does it feel like you're out of control. The car is very controllable when sideways and it is, arguably, the proper way to drive a Caterham. The driver of the Caterham seems very good and knows how to drive his car. He probably has a lot of fun doing it too. What surprises me, contrary to most people here, is how the hell does the GT2 manages to keep up with the R500??? The only weakness of the R500 is the lonnnnng straight. Other than that the R500 is pretty much untouchable. How could the GT2 stay on his tail for so long? My guess is that the GT2 has some work done to it. Probably cup tires, PCCB brakes, suspension and more boost. A Caterham R500 is a beast, and if he takes off the windshield the beating will be even more severe! ![]()
