Elise vs Corvette & Nissan Z
So I was in Westchester today and drove around a bit. Saw some amazing cars. Was going around 65 or so. This Nissan Z blew me away. Looked stock, but could not keep up with it. Jumped from like 80 to 120 + in a second. I did not want to test the car or the cops at that speed. Too dangerous. But I am surprised that car seemed faster than the Elise. Then on the Palisades, a base looking 03 - 05 Corvette came up to me. Keeping on 80 or so. He tapped the pedal it seems and was gone. I think he was toying with me. So this ugly white supped up Toyota or Honda was on my ass. He was so close I missed my exit. Not sure why he was on me so close. Guess he wanted to be part of the experience. So switched from down shifting to zoom out of his area. He couldn't keep up. Great. I can take him out, but a Z and a 4 YO Vette blows me away. Shoulda got the Exige.

But on a different note; get a Katana/BWR/VF supercharger, and still have more money leftover than buying an Exige.

Prob. going to trade in for an Evora in a year or two if the moons align up right. LOL. Was thinking about putting in a supercharger, but not sure if that is going to help the value of the car for a trade in 2011 for an Evora.

Evora won't be much faster... wait till the supercharged Evora comes out.

Honestly...you may just have the wrong car. If you're not about the cornering, there are lots of cheaper, more practical cars that will beat ours in a straight line. The VF2 made a world of difference, but I am perfectly aware that the same money sunk into an Evo or Z would make a much faster car in a straight line.

no way a z smokes an elise that bad in a straight line-ihad one before the elise, and i still abuse my brother regularly since he now has it. slightly higher top end, but just as hard to get there. based upon what you're describing that car had some definite power-adders. I def agree that you can make some disgusting power with the VQ motor with the same amount of money you'd dump into thse for a SC, etc.

A friend of mine (and more experienced driver) and I have been going to a few track days together for a few years. When we started, I had an Elise with Ohlins and he had an s-200. He was very disappointed by our comparative pace. What with him being slower
![]() The next year he shows up in a New Nissan 350Z Nismo. Unknown to him I now had the BWR supercharge. His conclusion - there is only one affordable track day car - a Lotus. Except he won't fit into mine. Moral of the story - just get a supercharger. I believe there is one for sale on this board. A NIB BWR, if I'm not mistaken. It's worth the cost - even if you only keep the car 2 years. What a tranformation. ![]() Good Luck and Be SAFE -

Found It -
FS: New BWR SC kit... This one is perfect. You can get a tune from Charlie X or from BOE. I believe either will match your tune with other parts you want like exhaust etc. BWR now supports Charlie X tunes too. NO EXCUSES NOW ![]() Well - My job is done here - just let us all know when you plan to pull the trigher ![]() No kidding here - you will never regret this upgrade !!!

I know several blown 350Z's locally around me. You fart on that engine and it adds 100whp EASILY. It would explain the acceleration in this case...
Corvette Base C5 Corvettes (350hp) run 0-100mph in the 11.7 seconds. 80-120mph takes 8.9 seconds. 350Z Stock 350Z's (287hp) run 0-100mph in 14.1 seconds. 80-120mph takes 11.8 seconds. Mild turbo 350Z's (400hp) run 0-100mph in 11.0 seconds. 80-120mph takes 7.9 seconds. Elise Stock Elise (190hp) will run 0-100 mph in 12.8 seconds. 80-120mph takes 10.9 seconds. (3-4-5 quickest). My old Katana (BWR equivalent) equipped Elise (261hp) ran 0-100 mph in 10.6 seconds. 80-120mph took 8.2 seconds. (4-5 quickest). My current BOE TVS Elise (325hp) runs 0-100 mph in 8.6 seconds. 80-120mph takes 6.2 seconds. (4-5 quickest). Just a few numbers tossed out there (using Cartest2000)...

If you are wanting to out run cars doing 60+ then you got the wrong vehicle to do that with on the street. Especially in stock form. Hell, when I was stock I couldn't keep up with a G35 4door...
Of course now with my vf3 I'm putting down 292 to the wheels and not much can keep up anywhere other than the 800+hp ones which still blow me away (as well they should). But that is pushing this little 2ZZ pretty hard. Take it to the track, a stock elise can hand any just about any street legal Z or vette it's ass though. ![]() |

What is the best supercharger to get, performance wise?
I will say, on the corners and turns the Z couldn't keep up, but back on the straight, fly past me. Then again, I was not comfortable in going the speed he or she was going. |
