I buy what I like so I have an elise and an old porsche. If I was shoping for the highest performance/dollar I would look no farther than the ol plastic fantastic.....
yeah, again, i dont hear all these stereotypes of every other car on any other car board but this one.

That's true - not much above 5500, but I think you'd find it's not a problem. The Lotus would feel like a Corvette with more power. Even in the Mazda, there is so much low and midrange power that the lack of redline power is no big deal. BTW, Mazda put a smallish turbo on the car to minimize turbo lag. In order to get the top end back, your compromise would be a bit of turbo lag, which may be an acceptable compromise.

Good to see you!

Understood. I'm not making excuses and it's not sour grapes - certainly the Elise/Exige has its shortcomings in the power department. I'm just pointing out that it's painfully easy (and boring) to go fast in a straight line (my opinion).

Also, if someone (the OP) is the type that is concerned about such things, why the h*ll would he/she buy a Lotus?

yea base elise will have many problems keeping up with way cheaper cars... especialy if they are sc or turbo'd... i love my neon and it's looks, but an exiege looks a hell of a lot better on and off a track...

That is what I am experiencing. I describe it in more dramatic fashion than you...but I guess all vf2's have this characteristic. Jermaine is supposedly working on an ecu revision for this issue.

Are you able to put down power with fwd?
My nephew has a Jim Cooper Works Mini. It has massive torque steer, but handles remarkably well considering.

with the right tires yes.. at the drag strip, of course slicks would be best.. on the highway, depends.. we have a couple ways to limit boost in gears to help with it of course.. hey fwd is by no means easy.. that's why i love it.. great challenge.. doing burnouts on the highway at 80 mph is pretty fun some times lol...

there are a lot of guys who run their srts at the tracks/road courses.. theres even one in rally.. my setup isn't set up for it with my 61 mm turbo doesn't have a lot on the bottem end and full spool is about 4k.. stock turbo or a modified stocker (ported) or a stage3(factory), and a 50trim are best suited for road course racing...

for one, dnt be a douche cuz i aint the one to play games with.. i'm no little kid.. 2nd, my neon is far from rice, maybe more of a sleeper if you haven't looked at it.. 3rd, i've been on the jackie and usualy take it at very high speeds.. of course an elise should be able to take a neon in some tight twisties... like i said, my car isn't set up for that.. good going on making ya self look like a douche again..

however, my lotus elise, DID rattle a whole lot. worst car quality wise ive ever owned. still a cool, fun car though and i loved it.
just to get you up to date though, since owning my 06 zo6 (best all around sportscar ive ever owned, emphasis on all around), ive owned an 06 viper, a noble m400, and currently i own a superformance gt40.
all of which have been pictured here and there on the board.
any questions?
I have driven a ton of Vettes. They are fast for the money. Just not exciting. You are right, my Lotus rattles like hell, and I love it. LOL

Your GT is the coolest car made right now. I forgot that was yours.

People who call the Vette boring really haven't driven them. Even vanilla Vette's these days will blow most things away and people really don't respect their cornering ability. Z06's, well they're incredible machines. Only the ignorant discount a vette.

I'm a people snob not a car snob so I have no biases against the Vette. I test drove a 2001 Z06 and it was one of the few cars that actually impressed me. The main downside I have with the Vette is it's overlightly light steering wheel which didn't have much feed back. BUT, I think GM improved the steering feedback on the Vette a few years ago, right?

They supposedly did something about the steering feel for 2008, but my fiancee's steering is still entirely too light and devoid of feel for my taste - of my recent experience, Elise > 335i > Corvette, IMO. The rear end also feels a bit spooky to me. Granted, I would have opted for the Z51 suspension; she didn't. (But at least she got the performance exhaust. )
