For someone who protests often about all of the stereotypes that are out there concerning the 'Vette (and you have a legitimate beef, by the way), you sure do your part to slander and further stigmas associated with the Miata and its drivers. Isn't "tolerance" a two-way street?

...i think that's his point - for all the corvette stereotypes casually tossed about these parts, there are an awful lot of former miata drivers...

...honestly, though, stereotypes around here run extremely thin on the whole; compared to most other marque fora, lotustalk readers are remarkably open-minded and appreciative of different cars' character and ability...

I may be assuming too much - and I'm not trying to insult anyone or any car, I'm just trying to discuss - but it seems as if he's protesting the whole notion of stereotypes for one car while perpetuating stereotypes about another car.

So, my question is - if it's unreasonable and unfair to have stereotypes about one car, shouldn't advancing stereotypes about another car be unfair as well?

For the record - and for full disclosure, I've never owned either a Miata or a Vette but I am a big fan of both. I've always loved the Miata (not a fan of the second generation, however) and Chevy won me over with the newest generation of the Vette (am a big fan for the first time in my life).

i strongly disagree.
my perception, as skewed as it may be, is that only CERTAIN other cars are accepted by the majority of this board.
if it isnt tiny, (miata, mini cooper, etc) or if it isnt ungodly expensive, its crap.
then there seems to be a "mob mentality" big time abt what cars are acceptable to those folks here.
but hey.....no sweat off my sack.

Honestly, you should go back to that Z06 thread. I do not recall posting about a Z06 on this board (or any other board) at all. If I'm wrong and you can prove it, I'll admit it but I think that you have me confused with some other poster. I don't even remember a thread about you buying a Z06.

...that surprises me - admittedly i've only been here for about a year, but excepting tongue-in-cheek comments, i've almost always read respect for modern corvettes around these parts...

my perception is if it isnt considered a "drivers car" its gonna get ripped on.
for every positive comment abt a corvette, theres 4 on gold chains, or beer guts. or the comments are abt how the guy cant drive. ill admit, the corvette is a sportscar for the masses, but the zo6 is very different.
look at the vipers. look how that car is ripped a new one by morons who have never driven one.
heaven forbid someone has ever owned a trans am or a z28.
hence i dont post much abt my cars anymore. i only posted abt my noble when some flunkie here accused me of being a liar when i was asked what kind of car i have and i told him. i had to post pics to prove it.
i was driving my gt40 for awhile b4 another board member here posted pics of it.
no biggie, ppl can say what they wanna say, like or dislike what they want. thats life. i just dont need the boards seal of approval nor do i need a 50 city ticker tape parade every time i get a different car.
