Engine swap from Porsche 996 in to 993 . Need help

Wanted to post this , maybe here are few that are pretty knowledgeable about Porsche's .
Friend of mine bought a 1995 Strosek Porsche .Car has some minor damage in front from track accident . Engine and tranny has been removed by previous owner . Also missing engine wire harness. We have found a salvage 2001 Carrera most good body parts have been removed, but it still has everything as far as engine ,tranny , wiring ,ECU ,radiators , all sensors and computers . According to seller it should start if you put a battery in . He only asking $2500 for it, engine has only 28k miles .
Here are few questions if anybody could answer .
We were thinking about swapping whole thing engine , tranny wire harness , radiators ,
The biggest concern is 1995 Strosek had air cooled engine ,2001 Careera has a water cooled engine . Will the motor and tranny mounts fit ? I know that new turbo Porsches and GT3 motors would fit from 996 into 993 because they are air cooled as well .
Sure there would be some additional wiring required , but would abs sensors be the same , how difficult it would be to hook up old gauges to new harness ....
Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated , I just want to know what are we getting in to before purchasing parts car .

You're doing it wrong... The M96 engine from a 996 is no where near as good as the 993 engine. Due to the wildly different control systems you;d be looking at a whole lot of work and in the end the car would be a weird hybrid with a lesser engine that it began with.

... and who told you that the 996 turbo and GT3 engines are still aircooled? They are WRONG!

Actually, that is half wrong. The GT3's used a development of the dry sump engine from the 993, not the M96 "integrated dry sump" engine.

But it is still water cooled, no?

Hi, putting a 996 motor in the 993 is a bad way to go.
I however desperately need a 996 engine/trans combo to rebuild my 996. Can you pass me the lead on that donor car?

Easy. Hook a battery to it and see if it starts.

try to find 993 everything and keep it that way. 993 are bullet proof and "a special breed" the last of the air cooled.

Hi, from what I understand the 996 power-train would not be the ideal drive line to source if you have a choice.
