G8 Firehawk?

SLP Reveals 500-HP Pontiac G8 Firehawk Supercharged, Is It Worthy of the Name? | Motortrend News & Auto Blog - Wide Open Throttle

I used to have a Firehawk and it was not a big ugly 4-door family car. WTF are they thinking calling this a Firehawk? Not that it's not a fast car, it just isn't a Firehawk. No wonder Pontiac is going under.

Yeah baby!

If GM was smart they'd hurry up and rebadge this the 2011 Chevrolet Impala SS...

geez,

i wish GM would properly go bankrupt so that Holden would have to close up shop and stop making their ancient lumbering dinosaurs.

I'm not trying to be rude, I'm just confused a little. Obviously you're not a fan of Holden, but I don't understand why you just don't buy from them. Do they decide what you can buy over there? I know our government is heading that way, where we all will be forced to buy from Government Motors, but I didn't know you folks already did. I'm sorry you have no choices.

well for many years we didnt,

australia had protectionistic tarrif's in place so it was uneconomical to buy anything but the locally manufactured POS's

these tarrifs have now gone and more 'good' cars are available, however the bogan (redneck as you would call them) psyche has now been well and truly cemented into the australian character

holden has actually not turned a profit for many years, has actually lost $300m over the past few years, (so similar to the parent company), yet they keep spruiking that the company is viable and will succeed, but only based on govt handouts.

sorry, but its defainately a pet peve of mine that the only locally manufactured car is a low brow crude POS. surely a Corvette would be a better option in the US than one of these?

No I have not driven it, but like I said I'm sure it's a fast car. What I am saying is why the hell are they calling it a Firehawk. A Firehawk is a modified Firebird, that's were the name comes from they replace bird with hawk.

True enough...but the Firehawk wasn't anything to write home about.
