Incredible Mario Righini Car Collection

Just ran across the Mario Righini Car Collection on SCD. Wow. On top of being housed in a 15th century castle in Italy, Righini's collection includes the very first Ferrari, one of the extremely early Karl Benz cars, plus way too many incredible cars to list. I've never heard about this collection before...not sure if this qualifies as a "barn find" but perhaps it is the new and improved find...a "castle find".

Here is the story and pictures:

thanks, good read. That Ferrari is incredibly beautiful. I wish someone would still make cars simple, clean, and beautiful like that... besides Lotus. I would love to see models that stray from performance focused to simple and fun in focus. The only modern options are Lotus and reproduction cars.

I visited that collection personally in 1999. He was very gracious and treated us to Lambrusco. It was quite an impressive home and collection.

Is this open to the public?

My understanding is that it is not open to the general public, but it is accessible to larger tour groups, media and VIPs. I remember years ago that Phil Hill (ex-F1 champ) had a tour in Italy that included a trip to Mario's collection.

That was it. I went with Grand Prix Tours to the Ferrari Factory & Gallery, Lunch at Ristorante Cavallino, Lamborghini Factory, Alfa museum, Mario's private collection, Lake Como & the Grand Prix at Monza....all with Phil Hill. It was an awesome trip. Probably the best I'll ever have.

I say we get together a "larger tour group" of our own and go on an Italian vacation.
