So disappointed. This seems so pedestrian compared to my expectations.

Nice enough, but what's with the front grill? Reminds me of the baleen of a whale.

Oh Dear...
Derivative exterior, Cheap looking interior. It looks like they lowered the bar. Bland insipid exterior that is inoffensive to the greenies and the have-nots. Tamed down performance as well. More weight... if they could get down to 2800#. The package as a whole does not tell me that passion went into the design and build. F1 FTW. ![]() jmio. ![]() m |

I have the same feeling as the rest of you. It just doesn't hit home for me. I mean its a great looking car and I am sure its got killer performence but... The best way I can describe it is that when I saw the first images of the 458. I was excited! I just kept starting at the pictures, I had to send them to friends, people HAD to see it. This, I just calmly looked over the pictures and said meh not bad.

The F1 was a million dollar car. This is a $250k car. 3000 lbs is less than any of its nearest competitors. One article I read made it clear that Mclaren was trying to make somewhat of a GT car here; a "London-to-Monaco" car. That explains the dual clutch auto box (doesn't explain the lacking interior, though...). The design is not good; I agree. At least not in the front. Apparently, they're also developing a halo car to be priced way beyond this car with insane performance numbers.

Good point. For the price, its really a good car. Can't compare it to the million dollar F1.

I think its great. does it look a little derivative, yes, but when everything is based on wind-tunnel testing, that's bound to happen. Certain shapes and features just work better. Its supposed to be Ferrari 458, Lambo LP560 competitor not a follow-on to the F1. The F1 successor is supposed to come out in 2011 and 2 yeras or so after that, their entry-level 911 competitor car is to be released. At least, that's what I've read.
