Still waiting to take delivery....
A bit vintage, cant wait to make it my own. Ill use it as a DD and to offroad. Probably to wrench on too.

I also have 95 range rover lwb. Have had it for 10 years. Mine has 300 TDI turbo diesel and 5 speed.

The first thing ill be doing will be to take the front valance off and get some mud tires.
Drive it.
Fix it.
Repeat.

Knock on wood, hopefully I wont be fixing it toooo much.
The previous owner seems to have gone through most everything and it should be a well sorted truck.

Did you do the engine conversion yourself?
Interesting, any idea what a conversion like that costs parts and labor?

I had the conversion the done. total was 14K for parts and labor.
I bought a used engine and trans and transfer case.
just parts are 8k

25mpg is nice to have.

Dang, 6k in labor.....Those things are fairly easy to work on. I wonder if that engine just drops in or if there are other modifications.
That is a nice setup, I really like diesels especially for offroading.
I have the 4.2 in mine, the cheaper upgrade route is the 4.6.
Feel free to post a few pics, Im sure myself as well as everyone here would love to see it.

If you have gone offroad with it, how do you like the viscous coupling lock (whatever its called) as opposed to a manual locking diff?

As a reformed Land Rover tech and owner....Congrats!!

I was with Land Rover from 98-02. Loved them, did a lot of off roading in them too. I had a fully optioned 97 Disco for quite a few years, longest I have owned a car. Enjoy, hit me up if you need anything.

Land Rover is one mixed bag for sure! I had a Early model Discovery for 1 year. This was about a decade ago- Anyhow, In one month I think it was in the shop on 4 different occasions. The Disco seemed to know exactly when I was getting paid and how much cuz it tried to take it all from me. Finally after the 5th repair, as I was literally driving it from the dealership something else started to exhibit problems. I was left with the only decision I could make at that point... I drove it straight to a Honda dealership parked it, and told the sales person I would not leave till he took the Dicso on trade for an accord.

To this day I tell folks that if I had to choose between that Disco or an accord to take on safari I would choose the accord every time! That accord went 150k miles with only changes to tires, brakes, oil and fluids! I swore I would never own another Land Rover product.

That being said, I hear lots of folks with the opposite story. I figure the odds of having a good one are about 50-50.

The fact that yours is still on the road makes me think you got one of the good ones!

I hear ya.
I wanted something a little different, didnt want to spend a ton of money, and wanted something I could take offroad.
That said, despite all the quirks that come with most British cars to begin with, I figure one with a lot of miles that has been taken care of and well sorted has probably had *most* of the bugs worked out.

I cant wait to get it in my driveway.....well maybe not, it probably drips oil despite what ive been told.
