So it doesn't say, did the owners that had to pay out of pocket get their 20K back?

Sounds like they should get it back, or the credit towards next Nissan/Infinii purchase...lol

Nissan reminds me of that TV commercial where the little girl is not allowed to ride her bicycle out of a tiny red box on the floor.

They tell you they have all this technical wizardry and awesome performance. However if you attempt to actually use any of this stuff or take the car anywhere a race track the car’s warranty is void. Additionally it will very likely break if used the way any buyer would like to use the car.

Sorry Nissan - you really hurt yourself with this vehicle IMO

It's still good for bragging rights; and, if past experience is any predictor, people will brag that the engine is just so powerful that you can't floor it without breaking things What were once vices are now virtues

IMO they need to release a regular 6 speed option....this would solve most of their problems, and make the car alot more appealing to many others as well.

To me the whole point of this car is to show off the cool electronic gizmos which IMO make the performance of the car. It wouldn't be as fast with a standard 3 pedal setup and the typical loose nut behind the wheel.

I have to admit it gets around a racetrack very quickly, regardless of the launch control issue. I've sat in one, and it's a comfortable cockpit.

I like to ride in, look at, and take quick spins in R35s...

For some odd reason, I can't seem to bring myself to own one.

How are current owners still NOT screwed under this settlement? I'm not sure i'm understanding it correctly. The whole basis (i thought) of this claim was that you should be able to turn the TC off without voiding the warranty, and then the repairs would be covered. It says that if you turn it off the warranty claim is voided. How is this possible? You have the option to turn it off in the cockpit but then it voids your warranty if something breaks? This still defeats the purpose of having a warranty, because if nothing does in fact break, actually having the warranty is irrelevant. It also says, "once owners upgrade to LC2", which implies that they actually have to pay for it themselves. If they dont' upgrade, are they not covered? To me it sounds like its still a raw deal for those unsuspecting owners...

I'd be hard pressed to buy one as well. If you run it on the track, tires won't last long - if you don't run it on the track, why own it??

I also don't know how much satisfaction I'd derive from track driving, knowing that electronics were as much responsible for lap times as driver input.

The last GT-R chassis that won and dominated races with merit (i.e built on a platform that you can truly buy from the factory) was the 89-94 R32 Skyline GT-R. It just got downhill from there, and became a rolling computer on wheels.

Sounds like the typical class action settlement, where, in most (but not all) cases the defendant and both parties' lawyers come up winners, and the plaintiffs get a sop.
