Evo, how much did it cost to build up the GT40 replica?

FWIW, I thought the ACR was the more potent track toy than the FGT.

@OP, this is a VERY hard choice, as I too am a fan of the Ford GT, but the fact that you have two extremely capable track/weekend cars, gives you a huge advantage. You can always drive the other in different weather/track conditions, or if one is simply down due to mechanical issues.

Very hard decision, but a good one to have to make as far as decisions go

Good luck

Wasn't saying those cars are necessarily better performance/reliability for the buck but if I was dumping 2 cars that did things very well I would want something a little more exclusive and truely exotic. Plus even though the FGT has tons of grunt it just can't make sounds like a Italian V8/10 revving to nearly 9K through a Tubi exhaust.

Just chiming in now.... all this back and forth is definitely not what you are looking for, as I posted something similar on another forum some time back. I've been in a similar situation, and here's my advice.... TRADE'EM IN AND BUY THE FORD GT! Forget about the cars for a minute and think about the fact that if you didn't want this car, you wouldn't be looking at it. Your mind is made up, you just need a shove. It's hard to move onto another make such as this, but you're doing it safely. It's an American car and drivetrain, that is quite reliable. Furthermore, the power is insane (especially if you add a few mods, which is takes to brilliantly), but do understand that handling will NOT be anything like the Exige, but definitely still good. There's also the Lotus community which there is NO other like it, but PO's are still welcome (I'm one of them ). It's an exotic you can both take your dressed up wife/GF out in and take to the drag strip and track. If you don't like it after the transaction, you can always go back down to a preowned Exige AND Viper, as they are going for some pretty crazy prices out there. I understand the Ford GT's have held pretty good in value since their release. If you have the opportunity to do so, then have fun and experience something new. I plan on another Lotus in the future, but enjoying the heck out of my Rossion right now!

interesting....i havent driven a gen 4 viper on a track. drove one on wet pavement and could tell it was a monster.
the fgt made my tweaked zo6 feel slow.

i finished my gt40 for less than what a rossion would have cost me. (another car i had considered, but i felt it was too similair to my m400). plus the gt40 is my all time fav car.
427 aluminum block, forged internals, high flow heads, FI, custom this, that, and everything else.

very different car than the rossion. im sure the rossion handles better, stops better, and is more refined.
where the rossion slays its enemy with surgical precision, the gt40 slays its enemy with blunt force trauma.
the rossion will cut you up in such a way you dont know youre dying till you have bled to death.
the gt40 rips ur nuts off and shoves them in your mouth b4 you even hit the ground.
both effective, just very different.

If you really wanted one. Sell the Viper for like, 100K (Dunno bout the ACR, but 80-100 is what I've seen for reg vipers), and the Exige for 40K. You'll have enough (imho), but I honestly don't think you'll get as much of a thrill out of it.

It is. The FGT looks like it's fast on a track. The ACR is extremely fast on a track. The car makes quite a lot of usable downforce. On slicks it's a beast, though it does require a big pair to drive anywhere near the limit.

No. Considering the ACR is just a more capable car in every way and the most brutaly effective SOB in its intensions that you could hope for in a road car. And the Exige is also ultimatly perfect for what it's intended with the purest driving experience this side of an openwheel. You have the ultimate cars in their projected categories.

That said, I think the GT is just cooler than the Viper and if you can keep or get another Exige then I might do it. Not sure it would be worth the selling of 2 cars and finding/buying of 2 more cars, one of them being the same thing you just sold a year or two before.

It makes sence to make the trade. The Ford was only made for 2 years and will not only retain its value, but is well built , BEAUTIFUL, and your other cars can always be gotten at a later date...where as the ford will only become more difficult to obtain.

DO IT...Even from only an investment point.

Thanks again for the replies. Good news is that I figured out a way to just trade the Viper out for the GT. Bad news is that I haven't found the right GT to buy just yet.

I would be hard pressed to trade the new generation Viper for a Ford GT. But if you have that itch, scratch it.
