they should have skipped over the 911 family styling cue's, and gone edgy given the hard points and porportions...
2nd. Since it is not a sports car, they should not try to pretend it is. But only us 1% of "enthuiasts" will notice the difference anyway. Porsche knows its market I reckon. Porsche had an opportunity to really create a new design, something stunning and breathtaking... and they fumbled. I am sure it is a superior vehicle for its "class". PCar snobs will buy every one no doubt.

But it is totally barfed out ugly. I mean really ugly. Aztek ugly.

Having said that, I freeking LOVE the X6. I would buy an X6M in a heartbeat as a wifey vehicle (but she thinks it is ugly)(maybe she will like the panamera ). I think X6 is easily the best looking "crossover/suv/wagon" thing on the market.

But I am a bimmer lover thru and thru.

I dunno, I kinda like the Mazda CX7 - if I had to buy an SUV. Other than some of the new design elements creeping into their models (the weird black mustache thingy on the grill).

my dad just got a panamera turbo in the philippines. i think the rear is what you would call butt ugly but all the other angles are all right. the car drives fantastic, its comfortable in comfort mode but once on sport setting it handles well and hauls ass. i think what really sold us on the car is it's fit and finish. the car really feels solidly built with quality materials. compared to the other big sedans in its price range, this would be my choice. my only complaint is that it's only a 4 seater. i wish they had a 5 seat option. here are some pics

Seeing how you think the X6 is good looking, that basically makes your opinion of the Panameras looks invalid

Again, I've no doubt at all that this is an engineering and driving masterpiece. But having walked round and round one on Sunday last, to ME anyway, there isn't a pretty angle on it.

Looks like a 911 bred with the Pillsbury Dough Boy.

Porsche plans to sell 20,000 units per year. Good luck with that. I'll say it again.

Panamera = FAIL
Completely agreed. I saw one on the road today and almost threw up. Even if this if this car would do 0-60 in 2.5 seconds and went 270 mph I still wouldn't get it, because that would mean that I would have to be seen in it. The Pontiac Aztek is a supermodel compared to this monstrosity.

I think you need to check your definition of a supermodel. By supermodel if you mean ugly, unattractive, crappy, barf when you see one then you are correct. How can you even compare the Aztek to the Panamera and then say it looks better than the panamera

The Panamera looks good in person, the pictures makes it seem like a fat pig but in person it looks alright.

By all means, I wasn't trying to say that the Aztek was a good looking car. My comparison was rather harsh, but now that I've seen a few Panamera's in person it's really becoming an eyesore to me. It almost looks like a mutated station wagon gone wrong, the back end really kills it for me. I'd rather be seen in an ugly suv than this thing.

That said, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I'm sure Porsche will sell quite a few of these. At least in the first model year. A lot of cars that I think are ugly others think are beautiful, and vise versa. This is just one guy's opinion. I'd never tell a Panamera owner his/her car is ugly.
