White one may have been a replica.

The yellow one was the real deal. I been to more than a few meets and this was the first time ever to see one in person. A few of us were wondering how he got it there. We didn't see any trailers, but the car was waaaaaaay to low to get out of the parking lot.

Thanks for sharing the pics.

I dont think I have ever seen a Ferrari in that color red. (the 355) I guess the California in that album is kind of a weird grey for Ferraris too...

A friend spoke to the owner of the real GT1 and helped them push it it.

"I spoke to the guy who owned the car. He had heard that someone drove a clone to C&C the weekend before. I think he wanted to make a statement! He told me the car was made in 1997 and raced at LeMans in 1998 by Jochen Rohr, Andy Pilgrim and Allan McNish. It was the 8th tub made out of 16."

Um.... nope.

That's a 1996 GT1 and Rohr's GTS-1 IMSA car from the 1997 season. Rohr Motorsports took the GTS-1 class with that car.

Here's a photo of the car that McNish drove (and won with) at Le Mans in 1998, along with Laurent Aïello & Stéphane Ortelli - a 1998 Porsche 911 GT1-98:

I saw the yellow Rohr Porsch GT1 race in the PSR (SportsCar) series in Colorado in '97.
They raced at Pikes Peak International Raceway. I had full pit access, and was even almost trampled by the mechanics when they removed bodywork from that car.

I was even there when they sprayed champagne after the race.

I have video that I can post on youtube...

I wasn't convinced the white GT1 is a replica.

But now I see the panel lines are all wrong...

Yup. Windshield is wrong, panel lines are wrong, rear end is wrong, vents are fake, and it's missing exposed fasteners that hold the bodywork on the real deal. Those wheels? Puh-leeze - just look at the offsets!

It's neat, but I sort of go.... why? Especially considering there's probably the better part of a 993 under there somewhere.

I wish we had better TV coverage of the national stuff here - it had to be fun to see that Rohr car running. As far as sportscar racing goes, I say do away with everything but ALMS and bring back Can-Am!!!

Ok, I uploaded my video of the Rohr Porsche GT1.

The "racing" was actually Qualifying, since I didn't have a nice trailer to stand on during the race. I'm sure you wouldn't want to look at through a fence, so I cut that part out. The Porsche GT1 actually looks faster in quals anyways, since it wasn't stuck behind the Lister Storm...
