I wanted "Jap Elan" on mine, but was told at the DMV there is no way "Jap" is going on a plate, even if it wasn't meant to be disrespectful.

This will be read back by any officer running your plate in the phonetic alphabet as King Charles 8 Queen Elisabeth. That is unless they have have changed over to using the military phonetic alphabet in your area then it would be Kilo Charlie 8 Quebec Echo and that wouldn't be much fun...
