Pontiac Aztek Replacement!
Maybe your Aztek is getting high miles or you're finding it hard to get parts from a company that went out of business, well guess what you are in luck! I was strolling around the parking lot the other day at the park and came across one of these things which I think is a worthy replacement of the almighty Aztek:
Wait until you see one of these things in the wild! This stock picture does not do it justice. 10 points for the first to get a picture with their Lotus next to one. |

I did get a little sick looking at it. Whats funny is that a nissan banner ad popped up just below the picture.

Susie says it's not ugly enough. She'd drive it before she'd drive an Aztek.

F* Nissan. We have a Versa and while it functionally is a great car, the engine started going south at 70K miles and now at 81K I am getting ready to replace the engine. Car is a 2009. Burns at best 1 quart per 1000 miles and at worst it was 1 quart per 200 miles. Warranty expired at 60K miles. In fact heres the warranty for this car.

After telling people and searching the Internet I have heard this story before from other people with other Nissans and Infinitis. The only good part is that I can upgrade from a 1.8L to a 2.0L version (from Nissan Sentra) of the same engine and they are only about $700-800 for the whole engine. Like I said the car functionally has been great. The CVT transmission has been great. But the engine is a piece of caca.

Got a guy here at work that drives an Aztek as his daily-drive-to-work-car. Ugly as sin, even the brown colored like a turd. But he's had it for several years now and probably bought for a song. So can't say I don't admire that.

My cousin has one as a utility vehicle for his restaurant. He stripped the interior out and had it Rhino lined so he can throw boxes of cooking oil and all sorts things in the back like a truck. He bought it for $4k when it was only a few years old with low mileage.

I have a regular Murano for my daily driver and I love it. Honestly nothing really bad to say about it at all.
Although yea this thing is hideous!

I parked by one the other day at Ohare and it's beyond hideous.
Yes, it was that same seafoam green color which makes it worse. Hideous. I must admit though, I never thought the Aztek was THAT bad looking. Yes, it was ugly, but so are many others. To me, this is one of the ugliest cars of recent memory: ![]() Or this monstrosity:

Yeccchhh...
I saw a couple of these when car shopping for my nephew. The double-back window is a weird affectation. What really floored me was how high the beltline on that thing is. With the top down, the average driver can barely see over, into the car's back seat.

Several months ago there was a story about how a nissan dealership took advantage of a mentally challenged man by selling him a convertible murano for around 60k IIRC.
I couldent believe such an animal exists at the time of reading. I have still yet to see one in the wild. I would have loved to be a fly on the wall during the market research meetings.

Re: Pontiac Aztek Replacement!
I may or may not have worked on the Aztek. We may have been told to stop bad mouthing the design after we first dropped camouflage because engineers were not designers and we were not the target demographic. I may have had people go out of their way to point and laugh at me when i was driving my development vehicles even though they had never seen an Aztek before. We may have had suppliers ask us to remove the "hard camouflage" so they could see what it really looked like even though all camo was already removed. We may also have been instructed to not use the term "baby puke green" when referring to the green offered even though it was an accurate description of the color. Lastly the final exterior design actually sent to production may have been significantly better than what was originally approved even though it was a last minute restyle. It was a nice vehicle if you could get past the exterior. The cooler center console worked really well as a lunch box. I always thought the tent option would have looked better if it covered the front end though.

![]() Sounds like you had nothing to do with the vehicle. Sometimes an engineers job can be tough when you're told to do something that is against your nature...
