Porsche Cayman GTR

This Cayman build (carbon fiber and kevlar) is in the current European Car mag and instantly changed my view of the car. I think it looks sensational. The pics in the mag are much better and show the diffuser and c/f inserts in the mirrors, front grates, etc.

Here is a link to the body kit designer:

I quite like that, and I'm not much of a Porshe buff.

Still looks like a 911 that they left in the microwave...

I like it. It's too bad that Porsche treats the Cayman like a red headed step child because they don't want it faster than the 911.

The 911 resemblance was intentional, as is obvious. They used a 997 GT2 front end and 997 GT3 rear to model the panels after. 7" wider in the back and 3" wider in the front.

That's one gorgeous Cayman, but I'm a fan of all Caymans.

The mag didn't say how much the guy sunk into the 2007 base car, though I was just talking about the body kit - looks cool to me and on a mid-engined Porsche, should be a ton of fun (at a price).

Fugly? Even with the 2010 Lotus Exige inspired front-end?

Some Caymans are better looking than others. Red looks great. Saw this one for $45k on Porsche Planet.

they should have kept the Cayman front end. Look how much nicer the above photo looks. Stop posing as 911.

The reviews I have read have claimed that the new 2009 Cayman S's extra 25 hp, LSD and PDK tranny make the car superior to the Carrera S on the track. They are having trouble keeping the red headed stepchild beat down.

BBS? Those are really nice. Man, they have been in it a long time. I remember the polished lip, gold cross-hatched center wheels on the Turbo Carrera's back in the mid-'70s. All the rage back then.

I was drooling when that mag came in the mail... I considered the cayman when I got the Lotus... I read the article on my way to TCI this weekend. I wish that I had a garage with that and the Lotus... Oh what dreams, I should just feel lucky to have the Elise

I like the Lotus better, but the Cayman S is sweet. A very good choice for more of a daily driver and people on here that have talked about back injuries, etc. With a lot of enthusiasts moving toward the 2009 model, prices on the 2006-2007 models should be very reasonable soon. Very nice CSs are already in the Elise territory price wise.
