Reliability of Land Rover, Range Rover.

Is it as bad as rumored?

If you are talking used Range Rover 2006 or older, they have a lot of problems. I had a new Range Rover in 2004 and it was a great car with a bunch of problems. Ford took over and the 2007 and newer Rover are surprisingly reliable. I have a 09 and previously a 08 (which was flipped while off roading) with 0 problems from either. Ford did some amazing things for Rover and Jaguar reliability and while everyone bad mouths Rover reliability, few that have owned 07 or newer have issues. The new HSE is an amazing vehicle with the comfort of a S or 7 Series, serious off road capabilities, able to tow a race car trailer combined with style and personality.

My 08 LR3 has been rock solid, supremely comfortable AND extremely useful. Seats 7, or, with all 5 rear seats folded flat, can haul an amazing amount if stuff. The 7700 lb towing capacity is icing on the cake.

Land Rover reliability is under-rated. Since 1997, we have had two Discoveries and put over 135,000 miles on them with only one reliability issue. That is better than the last two Hondas we had.

A 2007 HSE is awesome. It has the updated dash, electronics and engine. You will love it. RR concentrated on making it very comfortable so don't expect a sport sedan. Congrats!

Just make sure you get the extended warranty for it and you won't have to worry about it.. It is used, afterall.

I've got the 2004 RR HSE which has the BMW engine, which has been solid.

Good call on the extended warranty, I just had my front air suspension go out and got it replaced....at around 70,000 miles

Welcome to the Rover family.

I used to have the old P38 Range Rover 4.6 (the last truly British Range Rover before BMW and Ford). It was one of the worst cars (in terms of reliability).

Now I have a 2006 RR Sport HSE. I've had it for three years with no problems. (Knock on wood.)

The Range Rovers they're building now are some of the best (most reliable) Range Rovers ever.
