Seriously considering the purchase of a Jag XFR.

That is one sexy car. Any bad news about it?

I have only heard rave reviews of the car. I think it currently is the best car in it's class. That said, r series jags are not amg mercs or m series bmws. They are a bit softer but are also much easier to live with. If I was looking in this segment for a car, the xfr would be on the top of my list.

I wish they designed the front a little more aggressively.
The rear looks pretty clean - somewhat Aston Martin-esque....if only they got the front to look more like an AM. Hell, they should have just copied more of the AM - most beautiful.

That being said, over 500 hp with 0-60 in 4.7 sec. with TVS s/c in a V8 will give something like the M6 (V10) a run for its money.

M6/M5 V10 is a fine engine but only when on the boil. For the size and configuration is has only a small amount of torque. So you have to work the engine hard to get the performance (and remember to set the computer to 500bhp as by default it sets to 400bhp). Had a few runs with neighbour who had an v10 M5 compared to my vxr8 (Pontiac G8 I think over here) with a trusty 6l v8 corvette Ls2 and it was generally very close but he had to be in the right gear.

the Jag has (about damn time) a brand new V8 and not a legacy one. Supercharged should be fantastic assuming the auto box can handle it!

Just saw one on the car show past weekend. Pretty impressive from outside, a bit boring interior, dash is blah IMO, too plain. Great performance numbers; the sticker is $80K+, I believe...
I'd look in CTS-V as well; it's even faster, with decent interior, has manual gearbox available and could be purchased with substantial discount. Looks great in white, neighbor just got one.

It's the car I would have in that segment, no question.

It's VERY heavy 4300-4400+ lbs so it'll need all that HP. The new Caddy CTS-V actually got a better review (550 HP) if you can live with a GM interior.

You can probably find a DB9 (1 year used in perfect shape) for about the same price $80,000. I know my local dealer in Walnut Creek CA has one (DB9) for <$80K.

IMHO, the DB9 is considerably more sexy!

They rave about it on the latest episode of Top Gear. And they point out that, as a Jag owner, you have carte blanche to be "a cad."

You mean AM Vantage V8, my friend - no way you can get a 1 year old DB9 (the one with the "rear seats" and the V12) for under $125k.

The CTS-V does nothing for me.

If it's still at the dealer, I'll try and snag a pic of it on the way to the office. It's that Bond green color.

I agree....when I had my M6, it was pretty weak in the lower RPM power band, but top end was killer.

Rob, if you could give me info. on that DB9 for < $80 K, I'd be very interested. I've been looking around, and it seems that it's the 2006's that go for that low.

Discounts

I dont know if its happening in your part of the country but they are discounting like crazy here in Florida on all cars. Might be worth a call and find out how much it would cost to ship it up. We use Alpine Jaguar in Fort Lauderdale- Mark Albreight is the owner-

I have not called the dealer here yet. To be honest, I detest most car dealers and HATE going to them. There is one I like locally, and it is a Porsche/Audi dealer.

I will look though, thanks for the tip.
