I guess I had the last good gen 4runner - a white one like this:
I was sad to sell it but it made sense at the time. Figured I'd always get another one someday in the future because I loved mine so much. The 4th gen (03) was a modernized change to the body that I didn't love, but I still liked it enough Now look what they did: ![]() Preview: 2010 Toyota 4Runner - The Car Connection Ugh - so ugly. I see FJ cruiser in some parts, which ranks up there towards the aztec in my opinion. I know some people like the FJ but I guess it's not for me

yea, that fj cruiser is definantly one of the ugliest vehicles on the road.... the new 4runner I think looks better. Then again I always hated how the older 4runners felt.... they felt so cheap/crappy to me then again I am not a truck person at all

I bought a 1994 new with a then hard to find manual 4wd and I still drive it everyday with 163k on the odo. That truck is the best vehicle I have ever owned as far as reliability, It was made in Japan and when they started making them stateside, things went downhill fast!

+1 I have a 97 4Runner 4x4 with 200K+ miles and it has been great. Was looking forward to the 5th gen, but got nervous when the official release was at the texas state fair

Who cares? It's a truck. What matters is reliability, versatility and value.

Had a 92 Toyota pickup in high school. I beat the ever living crap out of it as you would expect a gearhead high school student to do to a lifted 4x4 stickshift. It was an unbelievably great vehicle, including how it protected me and my passenger when I totaled it, running over a Grand Prix and rolling it.
Of the 28 vehicles I've owned, it was definitely one of, if not the best I've owned. It never really needed anything. |
