Tried to buy an Elise, but couldn't get the price for my Porsche Turbo trade
Got the bug for an Elise. Very specific in that I love the British Racing Green.
Dan at Criswell has a leftover 08 that fit the bill, but even though they use KBB as a "hook" on their website for vehicle valuation, their offer was way, way, way off the market. I think Dan's a good guy, just the websites vehicle valuation is a joke. So..... I quess I'm still shopping. ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by Bravo : 09-24-2009 at 01:53 PM. |

If you go through the effort of selling your car yourself, you will get a lot more money for it than from a dealer trade-in. The only real hassle is dealing with people who show up to get a free ride in an awesome car like your Porsche. Unless I was under severe time pressure, I'd never trade in.

...yea - i once thought of trading in my BMW with BMW to get another BMW. untill they offered me less than 1/2 the market value of my car that was still under CPO warranty
![]() i sold it on my own.. a year later, for seriously like 2x more. anyways - they may use KBB to establish the "value" of the car... but then they subtract all their "overhead and costs, profit, associated fees, bla bla bla" and come back with a stupid number.

When I bought it, 19,500milies, all stock. Since then... Bilstein Pss10 coilovers, GT3 Console delete, B&M Trak Shifter, EPL 16/16G Hybrids with 1.0 bar wastegates, H&R Sways and Tarret drop links, Fabspeed big oval tips. Saved and boxed up all the stock parts. Car now has 20,500ish miles. and is dent, accident, and ding free with original paint. Looks new inside and out. I keep it up on the lift, and clean the underneath too. I paid 62,900 before the drop, bought 8K worth of goodies.... drove 1k miles. It should be worth at least 53K? Found the same thing when I tried to trade in my WRX. I scoffed at the trade in offer, they "worked real hard" to up it 10% and gave the usual "your car is a crappy old beater, so you should be shocked we offer this much" sort of talk. Of course I turned around and sold it on Craigslist less than 24 hours after I listed it for my asking price, almost 3x the trade in I was offered.

Sounds pretty marketable. Of course the question is... which is more fun to drive, a Lotus Elise or a 996 turbo? I'm just asking.

Give it some time. It's a beautiful car and you may sell it here. If not, keep working the dealer network and hopefully someone will step up for it.

Hey Bravo! I realize that you said you wanted green....but you obviously like silver so I was thinking.....
I have been thinking about selling my Elise...... 2007 Artic Silver with the "Red Interior". The car just turned 5500 miles. Always garaged kept, battery tender and covered. Never in rain. Traction Control with the Limited Slip Differential, power windows, door locks, only soft top (no hard). Mods: After market black wheels with machined lip wheels and I think Bridgestone Tires (from BlackWatch Racing), Sector 111 Katana SuperCharger, Carbon Fiber Side Air Intakes (both sides), Carbon Fiber Splitter, Arquay (sp?) dual muffler from Sector 111, Matching red leather shift boot and e-brake cover, and various other cosmetic (leather Elise shift knob, custom painted engine cover, matching Oil cap) and probably a few other minor changes that I can't think of right now. Anyway.....maybe we could work something out????? Obviously......will email up close picks if needed. Also has the Clear Shield from the Factory, black stone chip 3m from BWR in front of the rear wheels, and I almost forgot...... Craft Square Carbon Fiber side view mirror's from Sector 111. Darth Vader cup holder from Sector 111. Anyway......let me know. I'm in California and you're in New York so that might be and issue for you??? Car has never been wrecked or scratched. |

Work gets in the way. We only have 6 months without salted roads, and when it's the weekend, it usually rained this summer. On really nice days this summer, I was most often on the cycle. ![]() ![]() Last edited by Bravo : 09-24-2009 at 07:32 PM. |

I'm content keeping the Porsche as it is perfect, and has reached the bottom of the depreciation some say. The Lotus will come to me some day..... |

Rotary SP09A asymetrical 2 post. Rotary and Bendpak are the way to go as they are pro lifts. I built my garage myself (farmed out the concrete and had some help with the trusses), and installed the lift myself. Not hard at all but you'll need 12' ceilings. |

I've had a few quotes from dealers for mine recently. I bought mine used, so the initial depreciation was already factored in and they're still offering me $35,000 less than I paid for it just 2 years ago. Looks like I'll be driving it for a long time.
