BREAKING NEWS: TVR LIVES AGAIN
TVR has been relaunched with Sagaris 2



Sagaris 2 / Image: TVRCCTVR has relaunched the Sagaris at a secret preview event. The new car has different wheels, suspension tweaks and a revamped interior, and was presented by the company’s managing director David Oxley.

Oxley told PistonHeads at the unveiling that the car will be in production by the end of the year and there will be further new models to come.

'The new Sagaris is 100% better,' he said. 'It has been tweaked for a nicer ride and there are a lot of changes. The new car has moved on a generation.'

These include a new one-piece bonnet, new splitter, a new interior, including a different air conditioning system and different carpets, 19" five-spoke wheels and new seats. The car will have the same 4-litre straight six but the suspension has been tweaked slightly for better handling and ride.

A special event took place today and Oxley was accompanied by a new TVR team in front of a very small number of invited guests.



New interior/ Image: TVRCCThe car is a prototype at present but is production ready. One TVR fan who attended the launch said: 'The car is absolutely fantastic and I love it. I really hope to own one.'

there is no word on pricing yet as some of the features may by options. The car iwill be available in both RHD and LHD and will be sold in the Middle East and Europe as well as the UK.

TVRCC chairman Jeremy Blandford said: 'It's like they've brought the Sagaris into focus - it now looks sharp. The interior has a new information system that keeps everything in one place. The car is very nicely built, the quality is excellent and they have definately moved it on.The car will now have a wider appeal and it is now time to look to the future.'

What we can say is that the barn that set tongues wagging in April is in fact the new TVR development works. The premises near Wesham were spotted with a huge TVR logo on the side and many people hoped it would be TVR's new HQ. This turned out to be where today's announcement was held and will be were TVR's design and research now takes place.

As I stated in your thread almost a year ago about a dealership telling you they were coming here, dont hold your breath. Especially if Adam Burdette is still involved.

On a similar note. The founder of TVR died a few weeks ago.

Trevor Wilkinson, the founder of renowned British sports car marque TVR, has died aged 85 in hospital near his home in Minorca.

Wilkinson set-up TVR, a moniker derived from his first name, in his hometown of Blackpool in 1947 following his engineering apprenticeship. The first widely acknowledged TVR was completed two years later. The second official TVR followed soon after and survives to this day, now under the curatorship of the North Yorkshire Motor Museum.

During Wilkinson's tenure, the company went on to produce the Jomar, Grantura and the earliest Griffiths, all of which had GRP bodies over tubular steel chassis and were powered by crated engines. The ethos of the company, to produce evocative, high-powered, lightweight sports cars, remains to this day.

The company changed hands in the 1960s when Wilkinson moved on to specialise in GRP engineering. He moved to Minorca when he retired some years later, but remained a part of the TVR community and was often invited to attend special events.

A spokesperson for TVR said: "Perhaps Trevor didn't receive the wider recognition that he deserved; he started one of Britain's best loved and most desirable sports car brands, which has influenced the course of our country's proud automotive heritage. More than 60 years later, TVR is one of the last bastions of independent, niche sports cars."

I read a while back that the previous cars had issues...wonder if they've solved it all? The car does look stunning but unfortunately, doubt this car will cross the pond especially when they can get more money there vs. our weakening dollar/economy...shame

i don't think it ever was -except perhaps in some peoples imagination, but my understanding is there was never any action on what it would take to make that happen (all the certifications).

i just don't see anyone being able to make a business case for that, when they can sell them elsewhere with little investment.

if it didn't have issues, it wouldn't be a TVR. from what i hear about the sagaris (never driven a sagaris though) it is the best evolution of the TVR design. so less issues than others. an elise is mass robotic production compared to a TVR....

your right on the mark - i want to get a new vw scirocco - but vw announced that due to the weak dollar - they can't make a case for bringing a limited market car into the us. thanks bush for squashing my scirocco ...the only way would be to "noble'ize" it and try to slip it in as a component car, but i doubt the feds would let that fly since they are (were... would be again no doubt) are vin and dealered.

...the griffith was around for many years before the GTS... so maybe its the other way around

I thaught the goal of the guy re-starting TVR was to be able to sell them in the US? but thats just what i recall from a while ago

Agree, I was thinking the same that some mesh would have made it look just a tad bit interesting and also functional.
