What is the best Miata Forum???

Going to be picking up a Miata here shortly for my son that recently turned 16 and try to get him in to Auto-X. I figured there are probably quite a few Miata owners here that could give me the lowdown on the best sites out there.

I'd also like to get a hold of all the maintenance manuals etc in .pdf form too if possible.

He will of course be doing all the maintenance and mods by his self with supervision by me.

Well, the largest and longest running site is The MX-5 Miata Pit Stop: MX-5 Miata.net, chock full of info just stay out of the political forum, the mods shoot down 75% of the posts, not much freedom of speech there (maybe just my experience .

Redirecting... is a typically younger group. If m.net is the 'establishment', cr.net is the 'anti-establishment'. They love poking each other. But cr.net is a nice break from the seriousness of m.net.

Then there are a myriad of smaller sites and forum more specific to the particular need whether it be specmiata, forced induction, autox, etc. All are good.

Miata.net has the most info on the car without question, the garage section at the upper left would be comparable to the "Uber thread" here on LT. Forum.miata.net is generally regarded the miata forum. The Goodwin site looks good as well but I haven't spent much time there personally. I did meet him (Brian Goodwin) several years ago and chatted with him for a while as well as ride as a passenger in his car at a track day at Laguna Seca. He is an EXCELLENT driver and seems like a class act. If you haven't driven a properly set up Miata it will amaze you what those little cars will do.

Good luck.

Thanks for the great sites... Now to get him hooked on something other than drifting. It's huge here (I live in the land of drifting) and all of his friends are in to it etc... Hopefully he'll get that actually driving the car threw cones is more fun that smashing in to curbs and trees.

Also a question for Nobile. What field of astronomy are you in to? I have a great love for Space and all that is out there and have a theory on planet formation I've never seen brought up in any documentaries. It would help solve some of the issues with current theory's. It is believed that planets form fairly quickly, but all the computer simulated models so far seem to take a lot longer than what is seen. I think my idea would speed things up a lot since it isn't based solely on the accumulation of particles due to gravity. I'd love to discuss it with somebody in that field if possible.

+1 for miata.net.....and since hes younger send him to miataturbo.net, most of the users make their own kit and maybe he can learn how to do it and build his own car.

oh and post up some pics of this miata when you get it. im sure we all want to see it!

Astronomy has been a fascination of mine for as long as I can remember but it is only a hobby for me, my line of work is as about as far from astronomy as one can get. This would make a great topic in the "other" section. You may want to get in touch with the LT member who goes by Skyvue here, he seems very knowledgeable on the topic.

I'll definitely throw up some pics... The one I'm looking at has Tein Suspensions, exhaust, intake, CR-Kai wheels, pretty stainless steel rear hoop bars with door bars, wet carbon hood, front bumper and a few other mods.. Needs some love, but shouldn't be too hard to get in to good running condition.

Flyin' Miata

Lots of goodies to make a Miata a track star as well as haul ass...

There is a forum buried somewhere within the website.

If you plan on going forced induction, or just some mods, you can also go to miataturbo.net. lot's of technical information there.

Yes, but also the least tolerant. If the kid shows up with that car he'll get ripped to shreds for not meeting mnet spec or some crap. They'll tell him to pull the hood because stock is lighter (whether it is or not), they'll give him a ration for the style bar, and god forbid his wheels not be exactly a +38 offset, or bigger than 15".

There's a wealth of information available in Miata.net's garage. I'm extremely thankful it's there. I've failed to integrate myself with the hivemind there many times.

ClubRoadster is falling victim to asshattery, but it's still a reasonable community of people. Definately draw on Miata.net for information, click the ads to keep them alive, but look to Roadsterdrift, ClubRoadster, Miataturbo, etc for a sense of community.
