What do you all think of the new McLaren?

I don't know what to think. On one hand, I love it because it's a McLaren. On the other hand it looks totally bland and the shape has no history in it's own brand.

The front is VERY Ferrari, the rest of it is any number of cars...Saleen comes to mind. Cars like this should stir the soul, and maybe this one is a bit souless?

Watched an interview with Ron Dennis, and he said this one one of an entire RANGE of cars for his brand. I wonder if they will produce an "elise" type of car, I'd imagine they could do quite the job.

Love the chassis technology and as I read more about it the tech side is terrific - but can't say the styling does it for me ... and lack of third pedal is also disappointing.

Look forward to learning more about the engine too (despite not being a fan of FI engines).

Pretty awesome.

*sigh* Yet another car I want but will never come close to having. Still doesn't replace the Zonda R for me, though.

I don't care for it. Wheels are hideous. Nothing will top the Mclaren F1. Nothing has the curves or looks like the F1 did in the 90's.

Apparently the engine is the most CO2 to BHP efficient engine in the world... Including hybrids. Thats some excellent work there considering a 600bhp twin turbo

IMHA, my Elise looks much better...

Front end looks terrible. The rest seems to be stolen from other cars outthere.
On top of it the styling of the McLAren looks dated to me.

Not sexy enough. Not agressive enough. I can only define its looks as: "not+adjective".

I am a designer. I donīt care about the great technical datas if it looks wrong.

Now, on the other side, if the target goup is "old men with lot of money not driving it, just buying the name", then it might be the right "dont scare the buyer" look

Looks like they have borrowed a lot of exterior design from Lambo, Ferrar, Lotus, and a bunch from Ascari. If I didn't know this was a McLaren, I would have guessed that it is a new Ascari.

nice as a $200-300k range car, not another 1 mil + level car.

This is the Lotus Esprit concept for a car to possibly be released in 2011.

I think it looks better than the new McLaren...more futuristic, more original.

But have we reached the final basic design of sports cars?

No way! Trust the Italians to come up with something awesome and wild looking. Just look at the Zonda. Like it or not, the car looks exotic and new.
