You guys like some butt ugly automobiles
I hope you folks are confusing powerful or fast with beautiful. Most of you certainly can't figure out that 2012 - 20 is 1992.
Some of the most beautiful designs have been on inexpensive cars. One of my favorites for pure design beauty is the Ford Fiesta 3 door. IMHO the Elise/Exige are just plain ugly. Lotus hasn't made a beautiful car since the Type 14 Elite. In comparison Ferrari has had 2 beautiful cars in the last few decades the Dino and the 360 convertible and Lamborghini has never made a beautiful car.

Is that real? Can't be possible. I thought there were only 3 in the world and one was totalled. The other two owned by Ralph Lauren and Peter Mullen.

-The McLaren F1 is tiny and imposing at the same time. Gorgeous. -The Ferrari 250GTO is pretty much perfect. Not an odd curve or shape on that car. My favorite of the collection. -The Porsche 959 is impressively more beautiful than the 911 on which it's styling is based. -The 300SL in person is so simple and elegant. -All of these classics look like 7/8 models compared to modern cars. Our sports cars today are too big and complicated, excepting the Elise, of course. |

If you are ever in Philly, check out the Simeone Foundation... Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum | One of the greatest collections of racing sports cars in the world. He's got some beauties that have not been restored...which makes it ever more awesomer...Jag C & D, Testarosa, Daytona and my favorite, the 917 psychedelic...

Yep. Dr. Simeone has been on 'What's My Car Worth?' on Velocity. He's interviewed by the wooden, but insanely gorgeous host, Lorainne McKinnery - impressive.
I hate Ralph Lauren - he's ridiculously wealthy, has amazing cars and is so short he can fit in them! This is Lorainne: ![]() ![]() Here's a great Simeone pic I found:

Agreed with all...except...I am not exactly sure I understand the 959 phenomenon. There was one at a local car show recently, and I was nonplussed. It simply felt like a squatter, longer, and dare I say slower looking Porsche. To your point about modern cars, I've made this point before on this board, but it goes like this - modern sports cars are like the mega-stadiums of the 70's. There is a lack of intamcy and connection with the flappy paddle shifting computer smarter than the driver homogenized movement...that's why I love the Elise, it is the Camden Yards of the automotive world. I think in a few years drivers will long for a clutch and gear shift, and just like the muscle car was once forgotten and then became a cherished commodity commanding an outrageous premium, so will the Elise.

As a fellow Velocity fan, which is your favorite show? What's My Car Worth CCC Wheeler Dealer Fifth Gear Mecum West Coast Customs I love Wheeler Dealer...it's a ginormous British fraud, but's it's fun to see what they buy the car for and then what Ed needs to do fix. Learn a lot.

I LOVE CCC - actually met Wayne Carini at Monterey Week last year. He and his group and my wife and I were all smashed at the bar of a packed restaurant as we waited for our tables. He bought me and my wife a glass of wine and we shot the breeze. Super nice and he's like 5 feet tall. He's got a severely autistic daughter and my wife used to teach autistic kids. Came up because he had a fleece on that had some autism awareness logo and he and my wife got to chatting about it. Back to the shows: CCC WAS great. It's just good now. The new season has a bunch of cars that are simply not interesting to me (Pierce Arrow, etc). I loved the episodes with Herb Chamber's Daytona or the barn/shed find Dino. WMCW - is good, but get's repetitive. Lorainne is strikingly beautiful - very classy - but she is a HORRIBLE host. Insanely wooden. The show is good, but it's too repetitive for me and the guy with the cigar bugs. Fifth Gear - I just can't get into it. Don't know why, but when it's on, I find myself playing around on line. My favorite shows are Shifting Gears, Tech Toys/World's Most Expensive Rides (which they just rerun all the time) and I do enjoy West Coast Customs and the new Overhaulin'. I don't really like those types of cars, but I enjoy any show that shows me car restoration. Mecum bores me. Boring cars. Boring show. Wheeler Dealers is awesome. I love how they get giddy about turning a car for a $500 quid profit (less the 5,000 hours of 'free' labor)! I love the cars they do - Moke, A310, Esprit, Citroen DS, etc. Best of all is Mike's cockney accent. 'Old out yer 'and, fella. You just bought yerself a crackin' mota. My mate Edd sorted out all the fiddly bits. Ta da'
