Back to the shows:

CCC WAS great. It's just good now. The new season has a bunch of cars that are simply not interesting to me (Pierce Arrow, etc). I loved the episodes with Herb Chamber's Daytona or the barn/shed find Dino.

WMCW - is good, but get's repetitive. Lorainne is strikingly beautiful - very classy - but she is a HORRIBLE host. Insanely wooden. The show is good, but it's too repetitive for me and the guy with the cigar bugs.

Fifth Gear - I just can't get into it. Don't know why, but when it's on, I find myself playing around on line.

My favorite shows are Shifting Gears, Tech Toys/World's Most Expensive Rides (which they just rerun all the time) and I do enjoy West Coast Customs and the new Overhaulin'. I don't really like those types of cars, but I enjoy any show that shows me car restoration.

Mecum bores me. Boring cars. Boring show.

Wheeler Dealers is awesome. I love how they get giddy about turning a car for a $500 quid profit (less the 5,000 hours of 'free' labor)! I love the cars they do - Moke, A310, Esprit, Citroen DS, etc. Best of all is Mike's cockney accent. 'Old out yer 'and, fella. You just bought yerself a crackin' mota. My mate Edd sorted out all the fiddly bits. Ta da'

That's awesome! Oh what I wouldn't give to have a drink with that guy!

Agreed on your take on the shows!

Agreed. I couldn't stand how close my Boxster was to being a great drivers car but just wasn't there. So I bought an Elise.

BTW, I've had 2 2g Eclipse GSX's. Speaking of beautiful cars from the past 20 years, I'd put them near the top of the list of Japanese lookers. Too bad they don't hold together too well.

I just watched the video from Paris. He must have two McLarens because the one in the video looks like an orange LM. If my memory serves, the one in Boston was silver.

Having just come back from HK, I will add there are few places to drive, too many cars, no place to park and their steering wheels are on the wrong side plus they drive on the wrong side of the street.....

If you are going to toss out the year restrictions I'd have to go with two cars -

First the Talbot Lago. Teardrop design at it's best. I've seen one in person and it's hard to look at it and walk away - you just never want to leave it.

In the much more modern era it's hard for me to deny the 356.

Ironically, Almost every car mentioned here is based on Giugiaros original flying wedge.

So, The Lotus Esprit wins and is owed a great thanks for setting the standard for exotic car design since the early 70's.

I've always felt that the F-cars are the most visually appealing vehicles ever made. I also totally agree with s2mikey... the F40/F50 are too extreme to be beautiful. I like the simple beauty of well-sculpted curves that flow together. Not a bunch of vents and things tacked on to make the car go faster.

Going by looks alone here are some of my favorites (from old to new):

I personally think the 458 Italia is the best looking modern car hands down.

I agree the 458 is absolutely stunning. I think it is one of the best looking cars in modern history. An honorable mention to the 94 3.6 911 turbo.
