Bad Boys did it for me with that 911 Turbo, until the 993 Turbo S came out. I think those are still way better looking than anything that came after it, including the 996TT and variants.

Going by looks alone here are some of my favorites (from old to new):

I personally think the 458 Italia is the best looking modern car hands down.
Yes! Ticky-tack body panels and various other "kit-car" looking bolt-ons just dont work. The F50 is the ugliest car ever, after the Pontiac Aztek. The F40 doesnt work. Love to have one for track days but thats it.

The F355 is the best looking car ferrari has made, other than the early, small-bumper 308 from '76 through '79. The 458 is very nice but the rear quarters dont work and the odd-shaped rear window seems odd too. Im down with the front end and rear view for sure though.

So, my tally is:

1A, 1B = Lotus Esprit / Ferrari 308
2 = F355
3 = Gallardo
4 = Lambo LP 400(the one with NO wings or additions)
5 = BMW M6(best looking two-dor sedan ever)

550 is a beautiful car, my favorite Porsche is the 904. Makes you wonder what they'd have been as a company if they'd have dropped the insistence on the rear engine platform.

Last 20? Probably the BMW Z8. Ever? The Jaguar XKE. Even il Commendatore himself (Enzo Ferrari) said the same.

At first I thought it was boring or plain looking, but I have to say it has grown on me and I'm in love with the McLaren MP4-12C. Plain, simple and beautiful, not to mention brutal.

This is it for me, my absolute favorite car ever. I still remember when I saw it at a very crowded Detroit auto show, burned images directly into my brain.....the Chrysler ME-412, stands for mid engine, 4 turbos, 12 cylinders. It was developed in just 1 year by Chrysler during the Mercedes era. It was supposed to be a 100 unit/year deal and price was to be around 100k. Merc was developing their hyper car, the McLaren/Merc SLR at the time which just recently came out and for 3-4 times the price. Well, they killed off the little Chrylser product that was going to monster their car in every way but not before stealing back its engine and the brand new double clutch gear box that Chrysler had come up with (yes, Chrylser came up with that first back in '04). Rumor has it that 3 cars were every finished, 2 of which ran, 1 that was just a static display model. 1 is supposed to be in the hands of Chrysler still, the other is said to be owned my the rapper Ludacris.

And then of course, and I cannot believe that no one has posted this one yet, the Ferrari 288 GTO. In my mind the F355 is not even close
