When a Formula Atlantic team gets bored decides to do a Time Attack

This is the result and blows away all the "Tuners" running
Big Willow in a blistering 1:20.54
Willow Springs Results

"Wiggins clamps at almost every air and fluid connection = serious"

Here we have a Pectel SQ6 ECU, Pectel Center Differential Controller, and Pi Research Power Distribution Unit (no relays!). The SQ6 ECU is the basis of the Cosworth EC Pro ECU that I have been more or less working on non-stop. Admittedly the Pectel/Pi world takes a bit of getting used to, but once you understand the “system” you’ll find that it’s absolutely brilliant and super powerful. A Magden performance computer is currently used as a display dash. A Pi Sigma logging system and dash are going to be installed in the near future probably. The CDC and chassis track support is handled by Renu

The 6 pot Brembo Monoblocks are d-d-d-dope. SSE took some racing shocks from their Formula Atlantic spares, re-valved them, and with some fabrication made them fit on the EVO. The shocks are from Dynamic Suspension with Eibach ERS springs. Thats a Peterson dry sump tank in front. Currently the suspension geometry is stock, but there are plans to revamp when the time comes. Testing and development will dictate that time

How to travel properly to your track event...

I gave that car a good looking over. It is VERY impressive. That just means its is that much more impressive that the Factor X NSX beat it by 2 seconds with a 1:18.5!!

i'd say its most impressive since this is only their first or second event they've entered with this car...

With the attention to detail, i guess this is what seperates the pros from the "tuners"

if in that you mean......"attention to detail" = "unlimited budget and resources"

Yup...

Both the NSX and the Evo had blistering times. I thought 1:30 is fast for Big Willow. However, sub 1:20 is just insane

In car video of this car ripping 1:20 laptimes around WSIR. I never heard an Evo engine sound like this before... Camera angle sucks at the beginning, but they change it in the middle of the video....

Took more pics of this car when i saw it this weekend. Almost everything done to the car was fabricated in house since they didn't like any of the gazillion Evo aftermarket parts that were available...

Got drysump?

Got suspension ripped off a Formula Atlantic car?

Got engine mounted lower for lower center of gravity?

It won't sound like a Mitsubishi if it has a Ford Cosworth motor in it. BTW when was an Atlantic a slow car? Famous drivers include Jacques Villeneuve (former formula one champion), Danny Sullivan, Danica Patrick, among others...

Good for Cosworth for their diversification.
