458 no contest. My ex-boss owned one and took me for a drive...craziest 20 minutes of my life. The lambo is amazing, but the 458 is a different experience, and one that you should definitely get if you have the opportunity.

Everyone talks about which car is faster... I wonder how many people could ever get either car to its limits anywhere but on a track!...

That's what I thought until my ex-boss took me for a ride around downtown LA...one of the scariest rides of my life :P

Also, the sound of a 458 in those dtown tunnels is ridiculous.

You absolutely should take the 458... Its durn sexy, I see one in Downtown Austin every morning.

But my statement stands. I am not a fan of any other body style.

If the Aventador was an option, it would be a no brainer... The only thing above that imo is the Veyron.

I've always wanted a Gallardo... but I'd have to go 458 Spyder. I just like the Spyder.

Gosh the second I lean towards lambo I get everyone telling me ferrari now. I wish I could drive both but can only choose one..........

I'm personally looking for a couple things

A) which one i can get on an on ramp for the highway and gun it and have it throw me back in the seat the hardest. Not top speed just one that will feel insane when I throw the pedal in the ground

And

B) which one will be best for a bunch of photos and videos

I have a feeling that the answer is the Ferrari for a and the lambo for b :/

When faced with two choices, simply toss a coin. It works not because it settles the question for you, but because in that brief moment when the coin is in the air, you suddenly know what you are hoping for.

Drove a Gallardo, so I'd say 458...plus, I did not like the Gallardo.

By all accounts, the 458 might be one of the best cars Ferrari has ever made.

Not Gallardo, but interesting point. On a recent drive, we had a guy come with an awesome 458. He switched to it from a Lambo Murci SV (the 'gold standard' right?).
He was joined by one of our forumites - koop - who owns and Elise but also a Murci. He's selling the Murci and ordered a 458.

So, two guys - both like to drive at the limits - and both switching out from Murcis to 458s. They said that Murcis are a chore to drive.

So, I'd say 458 - still have to see the Spyder in the flesh.

I will say however that the Gallard Superformante in white is a simply GORGEOUS car.

Easy answer – Ferrari; not even all the might of Audi can exorcise the DNA of Lamborghini as a tractor manufacturer; the Lambos are more show than substance for the hip-hop stars who has more money than car control.

I'll never get rid of that truck because I love it ... and the Blue Book is probably only $250.

I drove it exclusively for about 25 years ...and then upgraded to the Lotus.

... I tell everyone that when I die I want to be buried in it.

Gallardo. It will make you feel like you drove an exotic much more than the 458 will. The 458 is an excellent car ( apart from the gearbox issues) but the Lambo sounds and acts like an exotic. With the top down you will have the extra reward of having the V10 right at your head, it is awesome. Once the flaps open in the exhaust at about 3K it is alive !
I know, I have a Gallardo Superleggera and me likey

Slightly faster? Who cares? Are you going to be doing an all out test drive on an enclosed course like Top Gear? Drive what you like and what you think will burn in your memory forever.

Absolute performance means diddly squat for "test" drives.

erm...have you heard the sound of a 458 at high revs? it's straight up ridiculous. and i'm not someone who goes crazy when he hears beautiful engine noise. the gallardo really pales in comparison.

It seems that most people on this forum like the sound of a Ferrari over the Gallardo. I think the V8 Ferraris sound great, but the Gallardo sounds like an old F1 car. IMO the best sounding cars in the world are V10s like the Carrera Gt, LFA, and the Gallardo.
