+4hp w/ Arqray dual muffler SS exhaust: dyno results

Hey guys,

I just took my car for some exercise on the dyno. Came up with some pretty cool results. Below is a copy of one of the printouts. I'll have more info later.

Test conditions:

Stock Exhaust:
1lapdubin1_439.drf: 6/21/2005 6:32:52 PM 89.56 °F, 28.92 in-Hg, SAE: 1.04
1lapdubin1_440.drf: 6/21/2005 6:33:19 PM 89.39 °F, 28.92 in-Hg, SAE: 1.04
1lapdubin1_438.drf: 6/21/2005 6:32:20 PM 89.71 °F, 28.91 in-Hg, SAE: 1.04

Arqray exhaust:
1lapdubin1_436.drf: 6/21/2005 5:04:00 PM 93.29 °F, 28.94 in-Hg, SAE: 1.04
1lapdubin1_437.drf: 6/21/2005 5:04:31 PM 93.49 °F, 28.92 in-Hg, SAE: 1.05
1lapdubin1_435.drf: 6/21/2005 5:03:31 PM 93.01 °F, 28.94 in-Hg, SAE: 1.04

Nice results Lillie!... can you get a printout with RPM's and with better smoothing? Someone lend her a QS2 to test!

The car was modded from aftermarket back to stock? That would be what is suggested by the time stamps in the dyno results.

Well, of course!
After you color shifted to make her appear Lightning Yellow, she surely looks spectacular.

I'm trying to get an RPM printout. As soon as I do I will post the results. The test was done in 4th gear, so you can manually do the conversion, and we all know where 6K happens

I'll post the best runs from each exhaust alone too so you can see it better.

Too bad I dont have my own dyno program or I'd have all sorts of cool graphs for you. Remember I used to be a scientist, so creating useful and pretty graphs is my specialty

Yes, that is correct. I am running the stock exhaust on the car right now. It looks very pathetic, yet is proving a funny point. When people see it, I ask them not to laugh...its a stock exhaust system. When they realize that is the POS they have on their car, it helps create more sales I plan to put the Arqray back on next week.

P.S. Oops, instead of hitting quote, I hit edit and originally placed this message in ekological's post. I have to be careful with my moderator abilities. I swear I didnt change any of his post if you see the edited by Modern Wedgie under his post.

The picture is funny. It looks like the tie downs are attached to the diffuser or nothing at all He tied around the suspension arms without any problems.

Thanks for posting the results. I especially appreciate the fact that you posted multiple runs for each exhaust system as well as the SAE and weather center data.

About the only other additional information that someone could ask for would be ignition timing curves from a data-logger and an AFR plot from each run.

I dont have the torque curves in a digital file yet. I'll have them as soon as possible. For the meantime, here are the maximum values:

Stock Exhaust:
1lapdubin1_439.drf: Max Torque: 116.74
1lapdubin1_440.drf: Max Torque: 116.55
1lapdubin1_438.drf: Max Torque: 115.93

Arqray exhaust:
1lapdubin1_436.drf: Max Torque: 120.53
1lapdubin1_437.drf: Max Torque: 119.40
1lapdubin1_435.drf: Max Torque: 119.65

Lillie,

How dificult was it to replace the exhaust? Is there any welding needed? How much loader is it over stock? Will it intefere with hearing the stereo?

Just curious.

cool! I hope the gains are the same for the Ti dual grill exiting exhaust also. I'm sure you'd gain a little more if you had the sport cat also.

You might be right. People say not to do that when towing the vehicle. However, I dont know any other option on the dyno. It has to be strapped down. I dont see any damage. If anyone knows another way I'd like to hear it.

The stock exhaust comes off, and the Arqray bolts straight on. Very easy. No welding necessary. I'm not sure what the weight savings is from stock, but it is lighter. The exhaust note is beautiful. Under normal cruising you dont really hear it. No drone. But when you're on the gas, it sounds real perty. It even girgles I miss it tremendously. I must get it back on soon
