anyone have a problem with the exhaust coming off the downpipe?

(stock exhaust, btw)

It happened out at the track the first time. i was out doing some warmup laps, blipped the throttle, downshifted, and when i let out the clutch ... BOOM.

it has since happened 2 other times, and i need to get under there again soon to re-fit it, or else its going to do it again.

it basically just comes loose from the pressure fitting (the one with the nut/collar), so it's a "simple" fix (after jacking it up & taking off the undertray).

one thought was to tack weld it together, but i'm looking for other solutions.

maybe this is the only reason i need to go out & buy that single-tip Arquay exhaust.

anyone else?

Never heard of this happening before, maybe the kind of "collar" thats on your exhaust right now is loose, buy another one, you can buy those at home depot. It definetely shouldnt come off like that, when I changed my exhaust me and my friends spent 30 minutes to remove the exhaust from the other part and it actually had two small welds that I had to cut.

it had spot welds? No kidding. I'm talking about this 'collar' right here (looking from the rear)

if that's the case, maybe i'll just throw a couple of spot welds on it then.

yep thats the part that was spot welded, I have an 05 built elise and they have a couple of differences from the 04 built ones, your problem might be the reason why they did that.
