Decibel levels at Lime Rock and other tracks

I need to meet the 89db level set by most tracks.
Currently my Elise's exhaust consists of: oem header>Larini de-cat pipe>Larini SE
silencer above the diffuser.
Will this setup meet the 89 db level set by most tracks or will the Larini sport cat need to go back on?
-Robert

89 db for most tracks? I've never heard of a standard so tough. Laguna Seca is the toughest out here and it's 92db.

I could not tell an exhaust note difference when I ran a de-cat pipe on my car (non-Lotus). Could be that the mufflers were too loud to begin with, however.

Honestly, the de-cat pipe will make a negligible sound level difference.

I don't think you'll pass. I wonder if a stock muffler would pass those requirements?!

We have a new 8" Larini that exists above the diffuser that we have been running on our Katana Exige. It is very quiet and flows quite well. We have one in stock (more on order) and should be releasing it for sale this week. This might be an option.

A stock set-up exceeds 89 db in the cockpit, but it all depends upon where they are reading it from.

My car would definitely not pass...LOL

I ran across this thread.

http://www.elisetalk.com/forums/show...oise+lime+rock

when I was trying to find out if a Von Hep would be too loud for Lime Rock. Anyone tried one there yet? 9lbs and a nice price is hard to pass up.

I wanted to resurrect this thread and I posted a similar question in the track forum.
I have an arqray twin exhaust and was black flagged at Lime Rock this past weekend and had to end my day early.
They had me at 96-98db and the restriction is 89db.
One person suggested converting the existing arqray to a single pipe and adding a supertrapp disk silencer.
Has anyone else run into this problem and solve it differently?

Thanks.

10 db difference is twice as loud. I was black flagged at Road Atlanta earlier this year , Sunday morning "quite hours". Electric cars may be the future, when we are put in old folks homes by race tracks.

Let us know if the supertrapp disk silencer brings you into compliance or at least to the point they don`t flag you. I have a Von Hep which is louder than stock and Lime Rock is local, so I would like to be able to go there.

Has anyone run a Von Hep at Lime Rock?

Here is a link to Supertrapp SuperTrapp: Performance Exhaust. Have no idea which one would work?

I called Supertrapp, it will not work with my twin pipe setup. I will need to convert the exhaust to a single tip. And I don't think I am willing to do that. I may just go back to stock. Which really sucks because I love the sound of my Arqray twin. Plus it is a huge weight savings over stock. What I can't understand is that I have run there several times before with no issues. I am still searching for other alternatives.

Run at Lime Rock all the time with stock exhaust. MANY folks have the stage II's and have never been Black flagged. My STi is loud as hell and I've never been black flagged!!
