If everyone had this attitude, wheels would be square.

Nice try, pianomaniac. It was your attitude I was referring to, not able to see the value of trial & error in the development of a product.

I applaud BadakVT.

Guys, stop the arguing.... I wasn't offended by piano in any ways so just let it rest....

BTW, for some unknown reason I decided to fiddle around with the intake just now....

Bad news.... when I took out the tubing just to re-tighten the clamps, I found out that the silicone coupler that came with the Bomz kit is apparently melting because of the engine heat.

It's not the outside but the inside portion of the coupler which is touching the tube itself. I felt something really sticky on the tube then I realized it must have been the coupler.... And when I felt the inside of the coupler it was definitely gooey and sticky. At this point it's not really that bad, however, if you have done this mod, please buy a good quality silicone reducer hose to replace the Bomz ones.

These are some of the better ones (you need 3" to 2 3/4"):
Samco
BoostController.com
Baker Precission

This thread is about intakes.....if you want to get personal, try another forum.
Thanks.

Badak, I'm thinking of getting the K&N Typhoon intake for Celica and the boostcontroller.com silicone hose. How long does the hose need to be?
Is the boostcontroller hose more rigid and thus more supportive of the intake itself?
BTW, have the Typhoon intake on my Accord and love it!
Thanks, Jim

Jim, I looked up the K&N Typhoon for the Celica GTS and the tubing looked exactly like the Bomz. My questions is, why would you go with the K&N if you are going to cut it up anyway? If I were you, I would just buy the Bomz kit from ebay for $40 shipped then buy a silicone reducer (3" to 2.75") for around $30 shipped plus K&N Filter for around $35 shipped. Total is around $105, which is still going to be cheaper than buying the K&N Typhoon....

Anyway, the silicone reducer from boostcontroller.com is definitely much better than the one which came with the Bomz kit. These reducers are designed for high-temp, high-pressure applications so they are definitely more rigid and more temp-resistant. So yeah, it will help tremendously in supporting the weight of the intake.

Have fun modding!
