Smile Installation One: Complete – Pictures

Here are some pictures from the first part of my installation.

First, was the liftkit fab'd up by tesprit. I can't say enough about these pieces. Perfect machine work, fitment on the car, and ease of use. I've never gotten a vehicle on the lift so quickly.

You can see how perfectly the pieces fit inside/outside the frame. And how well the extention bar works with the lift.

Next was replacing the old exhaust system with an Arqray de-cat pipe and single-tip exhaust. I decided to leave the rear panel and cut a hole for the exit. I still need to wrap the edges, just didn't have time.

I want to sincerely thank everyone who puts installation notes on ET. You've all made this an easier project to undertake.

Next week... Multi-Vex, Re-Enforcer, and RTDBrace!

I just put the stock sensors back into place. It took about 5 minutes of idling for the system to smooth out. Lots of sputtering when I first cranked it. Works and sounds great now.

Hope you started it in the middle of changing the exhaust. It's a requisite.

Lift Kit

Glad to see the lift kit is working out well for you. Great pics and the exhaust project looks really good.

probably won't stay like that, consider getting an o2 simulator.

How did you cut the hole in the grill? I still need to do the same with mine. Looks very nice. Looks like you filed the edges down as to not cut or scrape people's fingers.

I had originally planned to use a dremel, but ended up using a jigsaw. And you're right... I used a file to smooth out the edges to give it a smooth, finished look. It could very well stay like it is and appear stock, but I think I'll try a couple things before I call it quits on the exit.

Thanks.
Oh a dremel? I was going to use a power drill with those 3" hole cutters. I don't think it will work since the exhaust exits at an angle. Need to buy a dremel anyway.

Do you happen to have a larger picture of the finished grill with exhaust?

Yeah, I wouldn't suggest a circle bit. The teeth on the bit would probably grab hold of the mesh instead of cut through it. Here's bigger pictures for ya...

lookin good you could get some black plastic trim/edging and line the hole in the mesh too, just gotta be sure that the plastic can stand up to the temps.

thanks, I like the look of it without the rubber around the edges. Looks more stock that way, just like the 111S or the euro grills.

Yeah, I'm still on the fence of whether or not to trim it or not... I think both look great. I'm more concerned with filling the diffuser hole at the moment haha

LOL. i know what you mean. On the S, the hole is even larger. I was thinking about a square piece of thin sheet aluminum to cover up the hole. Epoxy it on there or something. Gives you a good excuse to buy a CF diffuser.
