K&N filter void warranty?
Will a K&N intake void my warranty?
Will a green filter void my warranty? Will a stage 2 void my warranty? Thanks.

Should be no for the K&N.
Not sure what a "green filter" is, but probably no. No for Stage 2, also. The idea is this - unless the service department/dealer can PROVE that the modification you added resulted in the engine meltdown or whathaveyou, it will still be covered by warranty. I was recently spoke to a Lotus technician about the Lotus Elise SC, and the supercharging kit Lotus will be releasing that will be able to be retro-fitted to N/A Elises and Exiges. I mentioned installing a third-party aftermarket supercharger, like the Katana or BWR unit, and he gave me the silent nod of approval, apparently not wanting to recommend something that wasn't sold by Lotus outloud, lest he be chastised. For the modifications you're talking about though, you should be A-ok. I'm no expert on cold air intakes for the Elise by any means, but from what I've read, CAI's don't always improve performance on these cars. Poke around the modification sections a bit. Then do a search for "desnorkeling" or "de-snorkel" or howeverthehellyouspellit.

In other words, they can simply say 'no' to a warranty claim, and you have to press it to get relief, with all related expenses. |

And if they say 'no' to a valid warranty claim they can get in quite a bit of trouble if one goes through the proper channels. It's really not in a dealership's / Lotus's best interest to deny valid claims. |
