Matt,

I'm fairly certain you have one of the PPE Gen 1.5 headers (The FI edition started by user "Dave") which already has 1.75" primaries.

If you're going with the stage 3 VF kit then I'd actually recommend the upsized piping for you (1.875").

The only drawback of using such large primaries is that it'll require more tuning to get everything right.

So which version will you sent to Jermaine@VF? 1.75" or 1.875"

I'll be sending the standard 1.75" header to VF.

It's my opinion (until I'm proven otherwise) that the 1.875" design is not needed until extreme power levels like on the VF stage 3 or a TVS equipped car. Trying to tune your normal BWR/Katana/240/VF car around the bigger header chasing minimal gains doesn't make much sense to me.

We also don't have the tooling die to create a 1.875" header so it still has to be cut and welded by hand increasing the cost and lead time.

Also, is the black milspec coating like a jethot coating? If I do the coating, do I need to wrap the pipe's still?

And to think this started off as a Celica header...and almost got bashed off the forum before production for that reason...

It's similar to a Jet Hot coating but much higher quality. I've had issues with stuff that has been coated at Jet Hot.

Do NOT wrap the pipes if they have the coating on them.

I am planning to visit PPE, take some pics, and setup a production schedule with them next Friday. Sorry for the lag in response... I've been out of town for the past few days.

Two headers have been sent off to VF for testing (1.75 and a 1.875).

I'm also visiting PPE today to talk about production schedule and how we can reduce lead times. They are INCREDIBLY BUSY which is extremely awesome in this economy. They've hired a few extra people and they are in their new larger shop so it shouldn't affect us that much.

I also think we'll be able to knock out the Lotus headers much quicker this time around. The previous design took almost 18 hours of skilled labor to build... this one is much quicker (hence the price reduction).

Mike: I see no PM?

Here are some more pics The header is gorgeous in person

^ Special attention taken to cleaning up the ports

^ this is how the collector shows up to the shop before "clean up". After the header is all welded up they go in and port the excess material out of the collector.

^ here is one after coating.

Price for the standard NA/SC version will be $599.00.

Is VF going to make a standard tune for the PPE header?
Maybe include it in their stage ? kit?

Great job. I just looked at the header pic for a long time and I am impressed. I already have all the dimensions for the header flange in Solidworks and was going to get it cut with the water jet and make my own, but not now. You have here just what I want. Shoot, I have a TIG welder and all the tools to make the header myself, but with material costs and time I just do not see where it would be worth it for me to do it. Sign me up for $600. Where do I send the $? Note- I also plan on doing the VF Stage II here in a month or two so that works out even better.

Now on the end flange. What size is it? I still plan on making myself a custom SS 3" exhaust from the header back. That is the least I can do since I have to use my TIG and justify the 2K for it somehow!

Thanks
Troy

E.D: That's the plan. I'll let VF comment on that themselves though.

Troy, thanks for the props... that means a lot coming from you The header has a 2.5" outlet so it will bolt up to all factory/aftermarket muffler systems.

We've been wanting to build one with a 3" outlet for people with custom exhausts... Did you want to be that person?
