It is great for AX runs as you can mount the lens almost anywhere with the three suction cup mount.

install it yourself?
Here's how to install it. It wasn't easy to get the wires from the front of the car to the interior but it's definitely worth it.

480 line res bullet camera is $235 with all wiring, microphone.

Mounts are ~$40.

Mount for camcorder to the backwindow of the Elise is $65-99 depending on which one you get.

All info is at http://www.chasecam.com/

Do yuo need a camcorder to record the data, or does the bullet cam do it? Pardon my ignorance. Cameras is one area I knoe NOTHING about.

It sounds like the whole setup (sans camcorder) is less than $400. An investment in my autoX training I might have to make...

Maybe this has been mentioned before but does either QS exhaust require diffuser triming?

The bullet cam is simply an external camera that inputs to a camcorder. Most camcorders have a yellow input that takes a plug that should split off into three directions (yellow-video, red and white are audio but you only use one unless you want stereo sound)...The ChaseCam setup is sweet because it has a Y adaptor that gets power to the external microphone and bullet cam with only needing one cig cord plug. I never had to look at the instructions, it was that simple. The only problem is now I want to cover my car in them.

Randy,

I hope you get a chance to do a dyno run with the QS Track. I'd like to see if the additional sound baffles makes a difference.

Just installed my Quicksilver exhaust this afternoon. Thanks to Shinoo for getting it to me so quickly.

Anyways, I love it. Its very deep mellow sound, rumbles a little bit at idle, and has a glorious pop/burble when you lift off the gas. It sounds awesome. No droning at all. The shift to the higher cams is also much more noticeable. I'm 100% happy.

It is fairly loud under throttle, but cruising at 70mph in 6th gear with the windows down isn't much different than stock unless you gas it.

Special thanks to Jefferson for helping to install it. Hopefully Jefferson can give his comments as well. TTP also went for a ride and maybe he'll post his thoughts.

BTW, it was a piece of cake to install. The stock exhaust came off very easily, and the QS fit perfectly. Only took 2 people about 1.5 hrs to install, but I'm sure we could cut that to <1hr now that we know how.

As for power, I don't really know. But both my wife and I thought it might have a bit better throttle respose. Could be the placebo effect, but it seems fairly noticeable to me. Anyone else feel that way?

Anyways, I'm thrilled with it.

Good description. I just tracked mine and a lot of people were commenting on how good it sounded. Mine seems to have gotten a little louder after 600 miles and some track time.

I was under my car with the diffuser off (changing trans fluid) and snapped this pic of the QS. The exhaust has about 2K miles on it and looks to be holding up well.

Dan,

Thanks for the picture. I was thinking about getting the QS exhaust. Now that it is broken in are you still happy with it? Not to loud and no drown or resonance?

Thanks for the information.

Brad

I'm totally pleased with my purchase. At certain RPM's it is a little loud but I wouldn't call it droaning. I live near mountains and find that it occassionally gets a little loud when under load in 6th gear. I've had a friend with me and we could talk without having to raise our voices but it is enough noise to mention. Heck, at certain rpm's (cruising-flat ground) I think the interior noise is actually quieter. On the track and in the cams it sounds absolutely Ferrari like.
