Throttle body coolant bypass

What size coupler do I need to splice the coolant lines to the throttle body together? It would be nice to have what I need before it comes apart.

Hot coolant is run through most throttle bodies to improve emissions and supposedly keep them from icing up. This last part does not make sense to me since not all cars have this feature and I have never heard of a throttle body freezing up on a fuel injected car. I am in Texas though. Bypassing this makes the throttle body much cooler which makes for a slightly cooler and denser intake charge. It probably does not make a big difference but definitely can not hurt performance. It is an easy and inexpensive mod.

It can't make much difference in power. I sure couldn't tell. Whatever. I was bored.

Air after the intercooler might be what, 130deg? What thermostat does the Exige have? 200deg? So, as long as the air going through the TB is colder than the water in the bypass then it should be a good mod.

Only case would be if the intake the TB is connected to actually heat soaks due to the engine to a temp up above the water temp... if that were the case the water in the TB might actually br cooling it down.

Unfortunately I don't have my Exige yet so I can't take any measurements myself.

This is a super common mod for most cars, but would be good to know for sure which is hotter on a supercharged car.

So, no one with an -S has taken the temp of their throttle body after a few hot laps with the water bypassed? My assumption is if the TB is hotter than 200deg the water needs to be fed back in.

Do the "track-only" Cup cars have the throttle body bypassed?
