'07 Exige S - Seat Belt Alarm/Airbags

I've a 2007 Lotus Exige-S into which I want to put a roll cage. The car
is going to be hard to get into and out of if I kept the stock steering
wheel so would get a race wheel....which does away with the air
bag.

Is it possible to remove the driver side seatbelt alarm/airbag initiator
separately from the passenger side? ie., I want to get rid of stock
steering wheel, get a race wheel, while still keeping the passenger
side airbag working. Are they on separate circuits or do both airbags
go off at once??

Thanx in advance..
