270PS upgrade kit from Lotus Sport

NEW 270PS Upgrade Kit1
Part No. - ALS3E0301F pre MY09 ALS3E0298F MY09
Application – Any supercharged 2-Eleven. Exige fitted with sequential gearbox

The 270PS Upgrade Kit not only increases the power and torque throughout the whole rev range improving throttle response and vehicle acceleration. The kit comprises of a high flow air filtration system and exhaust system as well as a smaller supercharger pulley, fuel pump, spark plugs and ECU with revised calibration. Additional components maybe required depending on model variant.

Anyone has idea how much this kit will cost?

"exhaust system" = comes with header too. One that exits at stock location it seems?

Lots. I did ask but it was several thousand pounds - I so have it scrubbed down somewhere but I think it was about 5k GBP.
It's more geared towards being specified at vehicle ordering and manufacture rather than an upgrade.

That being said it's quite involved and not just a simple ecu reflash.

Seems to suggest that you must also fit the sequential gearbox too which is a separate purchase.

No need for the sequential box and it is fine on it's own. It's just lotus know that offering it as a kit in the volumes they'd be looking at will make it very expensive. However fitting it during construction bring the labour costs right down and makes it cheaper.

That being said lotus will sell it separately of you want to pay the price for it. Apparently it's not all about the headline peak bhp but low down is transformed.

Interesting... I wonder how it compares with the Gotham tune which is what I have and the throttle response is already much better than the stock S240 especially in lower RPMs and the mid range torque improvement is quite noticeable. The Gotham tune makes the stock seemed sluggish (OK I'm exaggerating a little - it's not actually sluggish) in comparison.

Just saw some prices Lotus Sports is asking for the various Carbon bits.... boy they are quite expensive compared to what you can get from quite a few aftermarket shops... maybe there is a quality difference ???

I am amused that part of this includes a smaller supercharger pulley. I have read many comments on the forum from those who felt a smaller pulley would hurt the long term reliability of the supercharger from a mechanical stand point. If that is true, I don't think the additional parts of this kit negate that. Would it?

Since there is also a fuel pump included and a new tune then you shouldn't have a problem running higher boost with a smaller pulley since you will be able to keep up with the fuel.

Picture below for anyone who doesn't want to go looking through PDF files.

The carbon bits are expensive however they are only 10% more than the replacement GRP parts (well, the 211 anyway).

Where are you seeing this information? And where are the carbon bits listed you are referring to?

Thanks

IIRC it's a Sadev 6 speed dog sequential.
Yes the box is 18k GBP on it's own.
You then need to factor in the extras and the software to drive the full throttle clutchless changes (as it rev matches)

So 30k USD isn't far out.

However this is a pure out and out race unit - it will need an awful amount of love and care to keep it going with frequent rebuilds and its a brutal if satisfying shift. It'd drive you mad on the street.

If you are a serious racer then sure, its worth the time and expense but even for a dedicated track toy its an overkill.

The carbon panels are only briefly mentioned.
To be honest, the best thing is to call Russel at Lotus Motorsport - he's a top guy and will give you the honest view on the bits - I called him with effectively a blank cheque and he spent most of the tie saying "to be honest, you don't need that".
It's where I got all the info from. Also not all the brochure options are available worldwide so you'd need to check anyway.

July 2011 (smog time) is when I decide what I do with my Lotus, get serious or leave it for street. I've had some limited experience with squentials and I've got a good amount of "serious" club racing experience under my belt (guess it's time to post some of my racing videos).

What was his reason for "you don't need that"? -- some of the pro-Racers I've had the opportunity to talk to over the years have indicated the sequential box alone dropped 2-3 seconds a lap. But they are Pro racers vs. club racers, so 30K for club racing "might" be overkill, for HPDE type stuff not worth it at all.
