Ok here is my Story.

1- Got my Exige S Sight unseen from a BMW dealership out of state.

2- When it got here it was totally ready for track but had no documentation or any ideas what had been done to this bad boy. All I knew is it was Loud, Stinkey and Running Rough - UGH!!!! A BUYERS NIGHTMARE!!!!!

3-**NOTE** Iam in upsate NY and we follow pretty strick Emissions and OBDII criteria for Inspection. WITHOUT INSPECTION IN NYS NO REGISTRATION!!!!

4-So I use a buddies Wholesale MV50 to helo make the deal so I cannot get a 10 day inspection or any derivative I must Pass the inspection and get the PASS CERTIFICATE from the dealer to bring to our DMV.

5- I get to inspection and BANG I Fail with 4 Flags (FLAGS WERE NOT SET DUE TO READINESS) usually that means a few drive OBDII cycles and its ready to go.

6- 4 Days and 300 miles and I havent even TRIPPED 1 FLAG yet. Now Im pissed, frustrated and know NOTHING about this car.

7- Out of luck I call John over at FOX VMC and he runs the VIN for me and BINGO it was bought and serviced at that dealership!! WOW what a lucky break I got.

8- That was until he told me that it had a GOTHAM tune on it and it may of been re-programmed or tried to be re-programmed by FVMC in May, and thats probably my problem.

THE GOOD STUFF NOW

9- I said Holy Crap a Gotham I was going to buy that anyway, so I was excited. I called Charlie X and he answered immediatley.

10- Mind you I never bought this tune form Charlie and expected him to help me anyway

11- Charlie spent quite a bit of time on the phone with me trying to get my Readiness state to run and it was not happening.

12- Charlie said take out your ECU overnight it to me and I will see if the ECU is "GOOD" and working.

13- I overnighted it to him and the next day it was back on UPS overnighted to me with Charlie stating that the ECU was fine, he put in the LATEST GOTHAM flash and I should be fine now. DId I mention he did this all for FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yes FREE!!!!!!!! I never even bought the tune from the guy and he does this for free on another owners car!!!! That is just AWESOME.

14- ECU arrived, decat removed and Larini Sport cat put on and BINGO emissions passed and Iam good to go.

I know this was a long story but I owed it to Charle to give a full descritption on what happened and how he helped my for FREE. Without his help I would of had to have bought a NEW ECU from Lotus, waite two weeks and lose the gotham tune.

THANKS CHARLIE. I really appreciate all your work and what you did.

All Lotus owners if you ever worked with Charlie you can appreciate this story if you havent worked with him yet, what are you waiting for!!!!.

He is a blessing to this community. If not for him I think I would have driven my Exige off a cliff by now...

Based on the way I read the title I thought you were blaming Charlie's tune for a major ECU issue.

I'm glad I read it wrong. And, yeah, Charlie is good folk.

Same thing I was thinking with the title...I was waiting for it to turn ugly when I started reading, but glad when it didnt..

Greece :-) Rochester, NY. This is my 4th Lotus. 3 Exiges S's and 1 Elise :-) I would love to meet up. I just sold my 05 Copperhead Viper to a guy in Chili so maybe he would ride as well. Let me know. email @ hummercor@rochester.rr.com

Peter Colombo? I test drove your old exige S last year with Glenn Morse from Adrenalin Autohaus.

Decided to get back into the lotus cars again eh? We'll have to meet up soon. Can't wait to see the new car!

Chrome Orange,touring,track,LSD,TC, Stage II and Starshield. Still considering performance/power upgrades however, I am extremely impressed by the performance/power of the S. IMHO, it definitely does not need to be upgraded. Not for the street, anyway. There is no other car for any amount of money that I would rather own and drive.
