Corner balancing Exige S 240

I want a more aggressive street setup. I have the track pack suspension. Do you guys corner balance car, what specs and ride height, shock settings, roll bar settings are you using? Any good shops in the NJ/NY city area?

Are you looking for a more aggressive look, or more aggressive performance? For example... if you set the shocks to the settings recommended by Lotus for track use, you will be miserable on public roads...

The recommended settings for track use are very stiff... every expansion joint on the road will be transmitted directly to your skeleton.

On the other hand, it's great on the track. And it's easy to change the settings; takes about two minutes. But I wouldn't drive around on public roads with the shocks at track settings.

That's why I'm asking the OP for his definition of "aggressive"

Is it possible set everything up agressively for the track as far as balancing, ride height, alignment etc and just set shock settings softer/harder depending in if I am on street or track. I basically want a more agressive setting and just have to turn knobs on shocks to soften things up for the street.

Yes, it's possible... that's pretty much what I do with my Exige. A typical race setup for camber, toe and caster is fine for the street. You have to be careful with ride height however... on the track, lower is better (subject to some geometry constraints, which can be worked around with aftermarket parts), but on the street, lower means more chance of clam/splitter damage.

+1

I drove with the track setting shocks for a weekend and that was it. It felt great on the smooth roads, but be warned you and the entire car will be rattling like never before. I went back down between street and track shocks.

thanks Ara, I was curious if people thought it was because of the ride height or just the shock settings. Changing the settings is very easy. Even the GEICO caveman can do it.

I will proceed to lower as planned.

On my Exige I changed from something like 3/2 on the stock bilsteins to 9/8 for a while to see what it felt like. There are a bunch of shallow potholes on the northern state pkwy that I drive to work on every day, probably about 2 cm deep. Somehow it sounded less horrible if it hit one with the stiffer spring settings. I think I eventually dialed them down to 6/5 because I was worried about damaging the goodies connected to the chassis.

Could it have been that I was bottoming out at 3/2 if I hit a bump/indentation in the road? I suppose it doesn't matter much not that she's gone, but I'm still curious :P
